First estimate and paying job

I quoted a gutter clean, inside and out for 200.00. From the pics attached, is this a far price? I tried to sell him on the house wash as well, since the cleaning of the gutters will leave streaks/cleaner marking on his dirty siding. No go. These are really clogged gutters and I’m afraid I sold myself short. Nevertheless, its experience and a paying job, so it’ll be done and done right, just looking for thoughts from professionals here. Thanks for you time

Side note: I noticed why you guys say my machine is too much for resident maybe, 4/4400 it kicks a lot more than my 2300psi machine. I don’t think ill be using it on gutters.!

Looks like you can walk the roof.
Use a blower to get out as much as you can.

Take pics. Plenty of pics before you start. It’s your proof of the condition of the property before you started work.

As for cleaning the outside of the gutter, that’s not really a part of gutter cleaning. That’s more for house washing. But since you quoted it and have the job, use your normal house wash and clean the outside of the gutters as you normally would.

You have a DS injector, right? And proper chems?

You kind of screwed yourself. You can’t clean the outside of the gutters using house wash or else you will be washing the whole house for free. You’re going to have to hand wipe the outside of the gutters if you want to actually clean them.

The good news is you’ll already be up there so just take a rag and wipe them off as you go. I don’t use a blower because of the mess it makes. It takes as much time cleaning up the ground/house as it would have if you just climbed up with a bucket.

Yes. I have down stream injector. Chemicals, I have gutter grenade and my house wash, and various others as well if needed. Also have brush assortment with pole should I need them. I don’t know about getting on the roof, my insurance doesn’t cover, and I don’t have equipment. But say I did, you are saying use blower to blow as much out of gutter first. Now that I think about, seems to be easier to attack gutters from the roof. Is that how gutter clean outs are normally performed. I have an attachment that’ll angle the water into the gutter, just have seen the shingles kinda flap up. Idk if that concern with potential water damage

Yeah, I warned the guy that the house will look bad if I’m just cleaning outside of gutter without house wash, he said its fine he’s gonna do the house. So i plan on just using garden hose to rinse siding of debris

Yes. But wouldn’t recommend if your insurance doesn’t allow you to get on roofs.

If you’re not getting on the roof, you’ll want an extension pole and a gutter tool to pull the debris towards you. Or you can use an attachment like you have which shoots water and it should work fine.

And just use your pressure washer to rinse off the siding. That’ll go quicker than a garden hose.

Hopefully you don’t need the Gutter Grenade. If gutters aren’t coming clean, I boost my house wash mix or even put some in a pump up sprayer and just hit that section. Rarely need more than that.

I wouldn’t use that. Those things make a huge mess too and can do damage and you won’t even be able to see it. Since you’re not washing the house I would just use a ladder with stand offs and clean out the gutters the old fashioned way. You’re not going to downstream f13 on the gutters are you? That will end horribly if you do.

This whole scenario is wrong. That’s a ten minute gutter cleanout. 4/4000 is way too small to wash houses. You don’t clean the outside of gutters unless you are calling the house. Don’t ds gutter cleaner.

No I have it in a pump sprayer

well, committeed to the clean out now. So I’ll be scooping and wiping. All good, love the experience, appreciate the input everyone

@Innocentbystander so for someone who has just started. What advice can you share to make it as close to a ten minute job as I can? With my PW thats lacking and inexperience.

Put up a ladder, walk the roof line with a blower, get down, blow debris into woods or vegatation. That’s a leave the truck running with the A/C on $75 job

Don’t spray Gutter Grenade with a pump up either. If you do you have to be extremely careful and be ready to instantly rinse everything else it gets on.

:man_facepalming: You’re obviously still not understanding how to properly wash.

@PristineGC no not 100%, this is why I’m reading and asking question. No where near level of most here. What do you mean, specifically?

Do exactly as IBS said, gutter clean outs shouldn’t be projects, quick blow with the blower from the roof or ladder to get the crap out and a quick clean up of the debris on the ground and your done. All you want to do is get the debris out that’s sitting there, your not actually washing the inner walls of the gutters, nobody’s got time for that.

Noted. Since I quoted hoping id get the house wash as well, I will be washing the outside of the gutters with my house wash mix. I know better now, im just excited to have the first estimate turn into a paying job. I dont think ill be getting on the roof, my insurance doesn’t cover that. Nevertheless, the job will get done alot better now. Im pulling GG out of my gal pump and putting in bucket, at most a little spray bottle, but def a more efficient method than my pump.

You shouldn’t need the gutter grenade but if you do…do NOT let it get on the siding or you will have a big problem on your hands–it will take off the oxidation on the siding. (And if it gets on the siding, rinse with water immediately.)

What @PristineGC meant by this is it doesn’t matter how much psi your washer puts out you bring the pressure down via nozzle selection. You could have a pump putting out 20k psi but, by using the proper nozzle, you can have the pressure down to lower than a garden hose.

As for Gutter Grenade it’s not made to get the algae or mildew off the gutters. It’s made to remove the tiger striping. It actually removes a layer of paint to brighten the gutters. It’s not just a regular “cleaner”. The best way to apply it is by using a green multi directional brush and a 5 gallon bucket. Apply with a quick swipe, let dwell, and then a light scrub. You have to have your gun ready to instantly rinse any drips. As mentioned it’ll remove oxidation and it can also remove paint if it gets on shutters, trim around the windows, etc. I would just worry about cleaning the organics off. All he’s paying for is that. Gutter brightening is a whole different ballgame and price. To clean the gutters I would try and down stream house wash mix first. If that doesn’t work well I would use about 2% in a pump up, spray on, and rinse off with washer. Be sure to pre wet the siding and everything before applying the SH. Don’t let any SH dry on anything before rinsing. I would intentionally spray some on like a 5 sq/ft area of the siding where it’s really green. Maybe he’ll see how clean you can get it and hire you for the house too.

Here’s a nozzle chart.
