Filling buffer tanks faster from customer hose bib

Hey guys, I have an interesting question for you.

I’m looking to boost the flow of water from the customer hose bib into my buffer tank to kee the tank more full, for longer as I wash, is there any sort of booster pump set up anyone is using to increase the draw from a hose bib not putting out enough flow to keep up with your machines? If so can you describe it or point me to some good links for products I might want to check out? You guys are great and I’m proud to be a part of these forums, it’s been helpful to say the least. Good luck to everyone.

There is no way to increase the flow from a spickot . The restrictions are from the size pipes used in homes . Try and hook up to the bib closet to the homes inlet water supply from the street. Also use the largest diameter hose you can . Use your reel for storage only. Don’t use a float valve.
All these things can make getting water more efficient if you can live with the setup.

Interesting. How does that work?

I’d also suggest unreeling all of your feed hose if you don’t already. I find the tight wind/layered hose gets slightly squashed. Especially close to the centre of the reel.

You just keep an eye on it. Using the reel for storage only means you remove the hose from the reel completely. Forcing water threw the reel and swivel is restrictive. Even if it’s a 1” these is still 3 90degree elbows on most reels . Elbows slow down flow

Try all the hose bibs on the house. Some put out more pressure than others. Pull from 2 bibs at once. I do that once in a while when the flow is low and we’re using 2 machines.
