Fiberglass pool walls

Pool has concrete floor & fiberglass walls. Can I clean the fiberglass walls with same pressure I do wood? Was thinking of hitting it with a 3-4% SH mix with some surfactant then rinsing with around 1,000psi.

That’s a tough one! Id try cleaning it with SH first… You blow a hole through a weak spot and you may see some expensive roads ahead. Maybe have them sign a waver if it comes to that?

I’d walk away. Or just do the floor.

Yea I didn’t look at it like that. Pool hasn’t been used in 10+yrs either. Think I might just SH agitate & light rinse

hearing that now I would defiantly be careful. 10 years is a long time to be exposed to the elements like that. That fiberglass is likely past its life expectancy as is. I’m no pool expert though. Maybe others have better insight than me.

The stains can permeate the gel coat sometimes, search for boat hull cleaning

Sometimes you have to brush it with acid. My parents have fiberglass pool and my dad had stains that would only come off by brushing with acid. Try Brushing with SH first.

Dilute the SH any or just straight 12.5% on it?

You could try diluting first to see if it works to save on chems

Does the pump work?

The settlement at the bottom has to go.

If the pump works you’ll have to system vac to waste, which is vacuum the bottom of the pool but instead of having water come back in, you must open a valve to drain the dirty water out.
When doig this settlement will rise and make the water murky.

After that you could run the pump through the filter and come back every day to rinse out the filter.

Then clean the walls.

Is the pool completely empty?
With a sump pump running, rinse the walls and floor to rid of the dirt and settlement left from draining it. You don’t need pressure for that.

Beware of emptying the pool, if you’re in Florida the pool can pop out of the ground because of water underneath.

Wash with roof mix, you could lightly brush it, but you’ll probably see a lot of white coming off the walls, being that it’s an old pool.

Beware of muriatic acid because that can erase the printed patterns.

Are the walls rubbery and looks like it has seams on the walls and floor? Of so it could be a vinyl pool. Fiberglass is one solid tub.

If vinyl beware of brushing and vacuuming too hard, you can poke a hole and the pool will drain out up to that point/hole.

Appreciate the answer @DoubleH . Yes I was told the pool will be empty and there will be a sump running. I’m in Ohio. Was told by HO it’s fiberglass walls.

Sweet, that saves time/hassle

Just flush out any dirt through the sump pump, after that you might not need that strong of a mix, unless it’s porous.
