Fence washing

But of course!

:joy:

Letā€™s start keeping a running tally of all the probs you Android users have on this site! lol

Yā€™all were talking about the blue button problem and I just couldnā€™t figure out what yā€™all meant for days. Serious! I was like, ā€œWhatā€™s the issue? Thereā€™s a blue button. And so what?!ā€ It caused me no issues.

One fella had an I phone problem on here a while back. But Iā€™ll admit, The Androids have been having most of the problems this year

In all honesty, that likely means that when theyā€™re updating the website theyā€™re not doing enough thorough testing on Android phones to see if there are any glitches or theyā€™re not doing enough testing on different browsers.

Iā€™m guess the Android users likely use Chrome or maybe Firefox while most iPhone users are using Safari.

We have no data on how fast the sun will degrade the SH. For that information we would need all sorts of factors like where are you, what time of the year is it, current cloud coverageā€¦etc.

Hereā€™s what I can say:

-UV rays convert SH
-temperatures above 70F converts SH
-Surfactants concert SH
-METAL CONTAINERS convert SH
-Time converts SH

So yeah, just sitting around SH looses its potency. Placing it in direct sunlight, heat, and/or any of the above causes it to loose it faster. So if you can block any of the above, itā€™s in your best interest.

SH is sold in 5 gallon blue containers by our local SH guys. Also, VENTED caps are important, or you will have yourself one puffy blue cube.

thanks for asking her, i bookmarked her reply.

thank you, saved me a lot of internet searches and more rabbit holes.

@Dirtyboy sheā€™s the resident chemist. She knows tons of info on all-things chemical.

I think she just got a new job, too. @CaCO3Girl, howā€™s the new job going?

@qons @Dirtyboy donā€™t forget to search your questions before asking. Sheā€™s already answered a ton of questions that you may have from time to time. If your search bar isnā€™t working use/bookmark this link Search results for '' - Pressure Washing Resource

Thanks for the heads up, I wonā€™t bother her. I read a lot of stuff, but she kind of summarized some points, mainly that there are too many variables to account for. I do a lot of research and check in here, or i see something here then research it on the web. Having someone put it in laymens terms is quite valuable. This is what I was reading then came back here and started re-reading and this topic came up soā€¦

Talks about storage, tank longevity, metals etc,. They talk about SH shelf life. Talk about affect of SH on metals, plastics, gaskets, etc. Quite informative but lengthy and scientific.

@qons Thanks for asking :slight_smile:

My new job is amazing! Iā€™m the regulatory and compliance manager for a wonderful company that is both big in name, but small on people. Itā€™s the best of both worlds. We sell into a lot of major stores, but with only 120 employees it still gives me that small company feel. It sounds corny when people say this but I truly am blessed that they picked me out of obscurity to head this department.

Itā€™s really weird not being in the lab anymore. Working at a computer instead of mixing chemicals has been an adjustmentā€¦20 years of lab time isnā€™t something I can just stop thinking about. But the people and the owner of my new company have been truly wonderful, and Iā€™m really making a difference. I have no regrets.

I really enjoy helping people and putting complex chemical things into normal people speak is something Iā€™ve always enjoyed. Feel free to @ me anytime. If I can help, I will

@CaCO3Girl Itā€™s awesome when a job move works out so well! But I understand the switch being so huge that itā€™s quite the adjustment.

Did the new job require a move to a new city?

Nope, it was about 30 minutes closer to my house, I can take back roads to work now. Plus, I can work from home on occasion and Iā€™ve gotten to travel a bit. Itā€™s a win all around!

According to the scientific stuff I read for awhile yesterday, the preppers are right. The stronger the SH is, the quicker it breaks down. They basically said that 6 months from date of manufacture is the longest it is good for. Mixing old bleach with new bleach lowers the SH strength. They say donā€™t mix SH with city water, well water, etc, because of the metals and contaminants in the water will start degrading the SH faster. They say containers should be painted white (they didnā€™t explain it but I guess it is because lighter colors reflect light).

For every 10 Centrigrade, SH degrades faster. Heat is the killer, I could be misinterpreting the data, but I think I am on. Cooling SH is what they recommend for storage. Use titanium, use viton gaskets/rings, containers only last so long, blah blah blah.

A very short summary of about 2.5 hours of researching SH on the net.

And people on here probably already knew all of that.
