Fence washing

I’d love to see it. In all honesty, i probably have seen what @marinegrunt has if he’s posted it, but most likely need a refresher.

I haven’t posted a picture on here yet. I used an old wheeled frame from a pressure washer. Added a 5 gallon square plastic water container, 1 gpm pump, and used a Dewalt 20v battery to power it. I actually bought a deep cycle for the setup but then decided to try the Dewalt. I didn’t want the weight of a deep cycle. I figured those Dewalt batteries can run a weed whacker for 30 minutes so one should be able to run a little pump for quite a while. I wanted something light and easy to move around. I got so sick of using a pump up for large decks. When I used it the other day one battery ran for 40 minutes. It was a 5 amp battery. I had an old drill that didn’t work right that I used to hold the battery. Another option for small batteries would be the ones off of a Razor scooter for kids. You can get a 2 pack for like $20 on Amazon. They’re pretty small and would probably last longer than the Dewalt 20 volts.

I think what I’m going to do next is weld some 1’ pieces of angle on each corner of the tank. I don’t really need it strapped down and the angle would hold it in place. That would make it easier to just lift and rinse out before switching to oxalic.

That’s awesome! How did you connect the dewalt battery to the pump? I may just do something like this. Like I said, this would be pretty simple to just load up if I have a post treatment for the 6 month portion of the package. Thanks for sharing!

I took the guts out of the drill. All I’m basically using is the bottom where the battery snaps into place. The wires are still soldered to the connectors on the inside of drill housing. I just cut them from where they connected to the trigger and motor. I then ran them to a little on/off switch and pump.

It’s definitely really light. If the tank is empty you can easily load it up with one hand.

I love it lol. I would extend the handle if i make one like that. I always have a hard time pulling those things.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing. It’s like they purposely make the handle 6" too short so you have to bend over a little. I threw it together the night before I needed it so I’m definitely going to make a few changes this winter. I might actually install it all on one of those Hover Rounds so I can just drive around and spray.

@marinegrunt I’m impressed!

I was literally just looking at the same 5 gallon blue container on Amazon. Is the container in any way see-through? I was wanting to use it but would like to be able to see how much liquid is inside it.

Not at all. They do have 5 gallon white containers which might be see-through. I usually use a 5 gallon bucket to mix so a 5 gallon container would be plenty. I just purchased the blue because a local store had it.

Doesn’t the SH hold its strength longer if it’s out of Sunlight ?

Bummer! I like the blue and was hoping I could use it.

Yes, that’s a good point. Though maybe as fast as most people use a fiver, it wouldn’t matter being out in sun for a couple hours. Not sure how fast SH actually degrades. @CaCO3Girl, any info on this?

I could’ve swore the SH I bought yesterday from the pool store was actually water. It must’ve been sitting in the warehouse all summer. (I really need to find an SH supplier. I’ve called numerous places. No luck yet.)

I was actually thinking of getting blue more for aesthetics. lol. Just looks nicer.

Most ppl say use within 30 days on here I believe

Most folks in the “prepper” community say that any bleach older than 6 months is VERY suspect for water purification purposes. Thats why most store the pure powdered SH. Now as for bleaching wood I image even less time.

Is y’alls search messed up ? Just typed in SH shelf life and nothing. tried other searches as well this evening, same results.

Search hasn’t worked all day for me.

@Hotshot & @Greenman

I’m good here.
