Thats kind of why i do lawn maintenance also <edit i hate grass unless in its proper spots. Birms, swales, parks, ballfields, and every other useful application for turfgrass.( not for wasting resources on insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and the rest of the lot for the best lawn on the block) Down here there is alot of plant selection. So you can get creative
Yep, myself. I started a separate LC division a few years ago, but labor situation so bad here I’ve ended up keeping it pretty small. Mainly just a few corporate accts that I can take care of in 1 day/week. It’s different and I like the monthly cash flow from it. I’d like about 2 more accounts and then that’s it. Has some pretty good tax advantages also. Got one really big one trying to get, it’s about a 25-30k/yr one Then I’d be done with it.
I love the monthly revenue as well and also only one day a week. You know where to find me every Thursday. All the accounts are in my neighborhood because ive got no room for a trailer. Well 2 trailers at least. The wash trailer will be first and who knows what the future holds after that. I sure hope you land that big one. Do you have a pesticide application license? Eventually ill need one if i want to service large commercial accounts. Im thinking ill have to partner up with someone who does when that time comes
Don’t do the pesticides, don’t believe in them and don’t use personally. Though I hear that’s where the money is. But I know too many people whose pets have gotten cancers at an earlier age than they should have who had their yards treated regularly.
The commercial I have are too big to spray. Our logo is ‘You grow it, We mow it’. We treat for general weeds like in beds or along foundations, but mainly, we edge, cut and blow. We also take care of trimming the bushes.
The only problem if I get the big one is I’ll need to spend $18-20k first year on more equipment. New larger trailer and another larger mower, so it’ll take awhile before it’s profitable.
I love the you grow it we mow it line. And yes lawn equipment is expensive. You can spend 40k or more on a lawn mower these days. Lots of money in the spraying and i agree with you a hundred percent about the pets. Any of my customers that have pets i wont treat. I dont want that guilt. And theyre not good for the water supply either. But a necessary evil because labor is way to expensive. Nobody is likely to pay to have weeds pulled or insects pruned out or sprayed weekly with soap water
I thought that a stronger chemical would be used for cleaning, since the fence was sealed. Not sure, maybe the sealer was worn off (?)
