I just wanted to see what everyone’s views are on Family/Friend discounts.
So to clarify, Parents, Siblings, and very close friends, I would guess, most of you would do it for a very deeply discounted price, or for free?
I would like to know how much of a discount % wise for this grouping?
Additionally, I really would like to know is the discount % you give for extended family (Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Grandparents) and not very close friends/acquaintances.
Or even a close friend’s family member or friend, and/or a direct Family member’s close friend?
Where does it STOP?..lol
I want to be a good guy, but I also am running a business, so I am curious what everyone’s views are on this.
I know around the country everyone has varying prices, so if you could tell me what % discount you give that would really help.
I’ve done it for friends and family in the past with one condition “don’t tell anyone I did it for x amount”. Problem with that, they tell coworkers or their friends what I charged and you start getting questioned. I tell folks that was then and I can’t make a living doing that anymore. I have found that people will pay what I ask because they know the quality of work they receive and understand I’m a professional, not a hobbyist.
I fill out a standard invoice and then apply a fifty percent discount at the bottom. That is for family that asks for service. I used to do it for free but the fights and them insisting that they had to pay became a pain. They were the problem, they did not know how to accept a free wash graciously.
Friends. They do not expect to pay extra just because they like me, I do not expect to charge less just because I like them.
My immediate family and close friends pay only the labor and cost for my guys to come out and complete the job. I also got a few dinners out of this as well
