Extending your wash season without a garage

Threw together an insulated box this weekend. I’ll stick a little space heater under there on the lowest setting, and I should be ok for those 20°-30°F overnight dips.

1.5” rigid foam with some chunky bits of leftover 3.5” rigid foam for reinforcement. I’ll tape all the joints with foil duct tape shortly.

Nothing fancy, but it’ll do the trick.

That is pretty sweet

If I had to guess, I’d say the whole thing weighs around 40 lbs or so, and is not all that awkward to lift on and off of the truck.

Also meant to take a pic of this “gap filler” piece. Just slots into the rub rail.

Fancy, maybe even like Applebee’s…if it works, it works, right?

how does it handle wind. I am temtped to build one as you are probably getting the same kind of weather I am right now. Freeze overnight, maybe 50-60 daytime, then a day or two with a high of 42. I really should build another pole building, but my kid graduates college in 2 years and maybe we will start to downsize the house. This place is too big for just me and the crazy woman I married.

SHe has degrees in crazy, psychiatric nurse practitioner working on doctoral. I tell her all the time she is just studying all this stuff to get a better understanding of herself.

Like a kite. Lol.

I guess it will be just fine while installed on the truck; it’s a fairly low-profile, snug fit. But picking it up and moving it around in a moderate breeze was unnerving.

Dang, was hoping that would work. I get a lot of wind where I live, most people complain it is like a wind tunnel. Guess that is why they have been installing gigantic wind turbines on the ridgetop about 5 miles from my house.
