Okay, so I used an 1800 psi pressure washer with a 25 degree tip. I etched my driveway in various areas this being one. What are my options? Im having some professionals look at it. One recommended an acid wash, I don’t like the idea of that. I’m hoping that someone can do Craig’s circle technique with some f9?
Most guys don’t know how to do it so chances of good turnout are low.
It eats your concrete. It’s generally done as a prep to put down a coating on top of the concrete. It’s not really meant to be used as a fix for messed up concrete. I mean, I guess it can be, but there is some irony if you use it in this case because the surface of the concrete has been power washed away and so now the solution is to etch more of it away so it looks uniform.
If it’s an older driveway, I’d be less concerned. But in the original post it looks like new concrete (which is likely why it couldn’t handle much psi).
I really, really, really wish concrete companies would tell their customers, “You know how you just dropped $20k on this really nice driveway? Well, the worst thing you could do is power wash it within the next 2 years.”
OK, so I guess I will be the bad guy and say what some other people are thinking.
You not only started doing it without an idea of what you were doing, but once you started damaging it you just kept going. What made you stop? I have no idea. Ran out of gas? Took a break? By the lines in the concrete you worked in sections damaging it.
I have some socket wrenches and some screwdrivers, maybe I’ll do some engine repairs today. I’ve done zero research, what could go wrong?
I don’t blame you totally, although it is ultimately your fault. I blame homie dept and lowest, they advertise it every spring and sell hundreds of units in the local stores every year. They are the liars and thieves, because they show in pictures and video people doing things wrong.
I’m just shocked an electric Ryobi has the power to do that much damage to the concrete. That’s impressive! They should use this pic in their advertising.
$99 pressure washer so powerful it can do thousands of dollars worth of damage!
