Engine won't start

Rookie help here.

Yesterday I was working a job and ran out of gas. Filled up the gas tank and went to start the machine and nothing happened. It wouldn’t turn over and the burner wouldn’t turn on. I thought it may have been the battery, had it checked and was good. Changed the solenoid, and the burner fired up but the engine still won’t start. It’s a 18 hp vanguard. Any ideas on what I should do? Thanks

Did you get it figured out?

Curious if you ever figured out the problem? I had the same problem yesterday. Ran out of fuel, refilled, wouldn’t start. Still won’t start today. I’m at a loss. Is this common? It’s a 4gpm/4000psi cold water unit. E series by pressure pro with a Honda GX 390 engine. It literally has less than 10 hours of use.

Thanks
Josh

Sometimes I have to choke it after it runs dry.

you may have sucked up some crap from the bottom of the tank. clean carb and filters

I tried carb cleaner today. It would Fire up, but die after a second or two. I’m going to have to take it to the shop. I’m at a loss as to what to try next.
Thanks for the input.
