Does anyone use a 12 volt pump for applying solvent sealer? I have seen the smk sprayer that is good for spraying solvent but at over $900 I don’t want to pull the trigger on that yet. I use a small 1.0 gpm pump for spraying water based sealer and it is much faster that using a pump sprayer. Currently I am using a metal pump up for spraying the solvent sealer but it is time consuming and with higher solids the sealer can get streaky. Does anyone know of a pump that will stand up to solvent based sealer?
The Milwaukee backpack sprayer has worked well on the last 4 sealing jobs. I’m sure there are cheaper options.
Your 12v should be fine for it too. Just be sure to flush well with some Pine Sol in water.
I have seen a bunch of reviews saying the Milwaukee doesnt hold up to solvent. Do you have experience using a regular 12 volt pump with xylene based sealer? Just seems like it would eat the plastic up.
It’s just passing thru. Charge enough so if it eats the pump, go buy another. NT 1.1 gpm 12v I’ve sprayed all kind of crap thru mine.
Do you run it through different 12v hose than your SH?
Yes it runs through a different hose that is dedicated to concrete sealing. It just hooks up to a 6 foot hose similar to a standard pump concrete sealer sprayer. The smk sprayer uses a stainless gear pump and it is supposed to last a long time with no issues. Clean with xylene like a pump up. I will try running it through a standard 12 volt 1 gpm pump and see how long it lasts.
No, why would you? I’ve got about 30’ of ag hose on mine.
I didn’t know if running sealer through the same hose that normally has SH running through it might affect the sealer.
I swear by the switchtank. Mixed reviews online but ours do the job everytime.
No, it’s just vinyl ag hose and flush it before I use other.
