Hey guys,
My wife and I went rock hounding a few months ago and got the beast in the photos below. I tried cleaning with 1,000 psi but the crystals started cracking. It’s heavy clay deposits around the crystals. I searched the forum quite a bit and found F9 seems to work well, but I didn’t see anything in regards to eco-wares red clay remover. It looks like it’s 11% hydrochloric acid, $35 a gallon shipped, but recommended straight or 1:1. So it sounds like it could be more expensive than F9 in the long run. I dont mind getting a bittle to try, but thought i’d ask if there’s experience with this slecific product first. I’d prefer something a bit less corrosive than muriatic acid. I have read about some success with nmd-80, so I found a supplier near me for $75/5 gallon bucket. I’ll pick some of that up tomorrow to try and have on hand, but sounds like it may not be the best for clay.
All of this did get my wheels spinning as well, I do have a potential inside contact for a sizable construction company in the area that I may be able to get an in with for cleaning their new construction prior to turning keys over. Builders here love to regrade with the subsoil/clay from digging out basements, so all sorts of opportunity there with new construction all over.
Thanks in advance fellas
