Does trim usually have an overhang (overhang down, so the trim hangs below the soffit a few inches)? I washed a house today, just one side thankfully, but as I was taking my bag off the camera I noticed the overhang and behind it was a bunch of black. I’m going to have to redo it as I started late afternoon and it was getting dark, but do most houses have that little feature? The things you don’t realize until you build them or make a mistake I guess…

If by trim you mean tha facia boards, then yes most overhang the soffits a little bit… at least in my area.
Yep, that’s exactly what I meant. I was just unhappy I have to do it again when I posted. Oh well I won’t miss hitting that part again.
yep, pretty common, especially if soffits are wood or on older homes or real high end ones
Another easy spot to miss is the backside of gutters. Most hang below the fascia when you get close to the downspout and its the first thing anyone will see when they look out the window.

We don’t have anything like that here with a lip on the fascia.
