DSR-50 usage

For those of you who have used DSR-50, does it work for paint removal? I know it works for stain removal.

What is it? Only DSR-50 I know is the rifle in the Call of Duty games lol

Looks like Powerwash carries it.

Definitely has some interesting chems in it.

Holy crap you weren’t kidding. We need @CaCO3Girl to translate for us plebians. I recognize the potash and the sodiums but no clue on the others.

So I finally received it in the mail. I mixed it 3:1 (per instructions) and paint did not budge. It worked great on mold and algae I had on my back porch though.

I am using my own back porch as testing. My wife actually recommended I do that.

So very sorry, I didn’t see this until now.

Just so you know what the hazardous chemicals do:

  1. A.k.a EDTA = chelator. This helps get heavy metals out of the water that is added to it. So it basically counteracts having hard water.

  2. Sodium glyconate, helps with rinsing. It does a great job in getting the chemicals to rinse off easier.

  3. Sodium Nitrite = hard surface cleaner. You can also use sodium metasilicate here….which I prefer because phosphates, nitrites and nitrates are under pressure for the damage they do to the water eco system.

  4. Linear alkyl is a surfactant

  5. Potassium hydroxide is a caustic solution that assist with cleaning and animal fat removal.

  6. C9-c11 is a normal surfactant for most cleaners. It’s sold as 91-6 and was a fantastic green replacement for the nonylphenol ethoxalates (NPE) that use to be used in their place. Those things are now in every water supply in the world because the old NPE’s aren’t biodegradable but the newer friendlier linear alcohols actually do biodegrade

Sorry I was late!

so should it have removed paint of some sort?

Don’t apologize to us. We’re just happy that someone with some real-world expertise would even take the time to educate us. Thank you!

Maybe if you used it straight on it would have softened the paint due to the 20% potash….BUT……some people who fill out the SDS’s don’t take into account that the potassium hydroxide is sold as a 45% solution. So you have to ask yourself, does it REALLY contain 20% potash, or does it contain 20% of a 45%?

The chemicals in this are screaming “I rinse really well and create lots of bubbles”….it is not giving me paint stripper vibes, it’s giving me cleaner vibes.

That’s exactly what yall did for me though! I have never pressure washed anything in my life and yet I was required to make a whole line of chemicals for it. I appreciated the help very much and I’m happy to throw my two cents in to clarify chemical quirks to y’all. If I don’t answer please feel free to bat signal me again and again. I just moved to Florida and life is chaos but such a good chaos
