Driveway showing surface cleaner stripes 7 months later!

so I threw down some EBC on the grease, worked wonders, minor rust lifted pretty good so no oxalic needed. I did not post treat whereas I’ve read post treating with HW mix. would this have prevent these stripes in the future? This is my folks house so I see the driveway regularly and haven’t seen the striping before, and they have the best looking driveway on their street after my cleaning  It has been raining a lot here in central Texas so maybe the saturated concrete has something to do with it?

What size HP engine and what PSI are you pushing…
what size is your cleaner?

You did not see any marks like that before u left??

5.5gpm, 290 Honda (I think) 2500 psi max(not sure about working pressure) 20” surface cleaner w 2 tips(unsure of nozzle flow). Where the driveway is dry it looks good but where it’s wet/saturated striped.

I started seeing streaks not too long ago. I started using a roof mix approximately 4%, unless it’s a really bad driveway. Once it’s dry, I haven’t seen any streaks either dry or wet. I’m in Florida, so with the humidity and junk, driveways always look cruddy. Sorry I can’t offer any other help, but maybe try a stronger post treatment mix?

Yeah I did not do a post treatment. Will from here on

I like to pre treat with hw mix surface clean and then post treat takes care of any lines and really brightens the Drive way

That was a very poor cleaning job, anyway. A lot of that mildew was never removed…all of those odd shaped lines of mildew are places that were missed.

If you made that mess…you need to improve your method.

I’m pretty sure you may have benefitted from slowing down and maintaining a slight overlap. You took your time and gave the SC a chance to work under the trash cans.

If that’s the best looking drive on the street, you’re in a target rich environment, lol. Seriously, just post treat with at least a 3% mix

Clean it properly in the first place. That concrete needs more psi.

Thing is driveway looked perfect. Freshly poured and glistened white. Wasn’t until the rain that the striping started to show up. Either way just thought I’d share thanks for all the input!

Forgive the blurry image but I thought, at least, I did an awesome job and rinsed down about 3 times during the SC process overlapping and going pretty slow and pressure cranked all the way up. Thanks for the input!

All their driveways look like the blurry image above or below this comment I just uploaded. I should be able to make a killing with a driveway special

On real dirty ones, you have to go both directions often times, especially if you’re running low pressure. And you have to move very slow. From your first pic, you were moving way to fast for the equipment you’re using. And then post treat.

I can see what look like swirl marks in the blurry pic. You have to slow down using such low pressure and go in straight lines. We run 5.5GPM with Honda 690’s. Even Honda 390’s with that flow won’t give you any decent pressure?
It will help you a lot to post treat with 3% + SH to kill the mold so it won’t come back so soon.
Give the grass and any plants close by a good soak before you do though. Just respect SH does kill some plants.
