Downstreaming vs (soft washing)

I respect that.

Iā€™m not going to hang you and your entitled to you opinion. I just donā€™t want another new person to read your comments later and think you are giving correct advice. We are self policing here.

I understand that completely. My experience and opinions will always differ from another. So can I ask how your experiences are with cleaning stucco downstreaming because Iā€™ve tend to be intimidated before getting a xjet setup.

I typically donā€™t do stucco. If I do, 75% can be done dsā€™ing, the rest needs an xjet. My point for you was, itā€™s incorrect to say that you canā€™t clean stucco or brick by downstreaming

Hereā€™s a video of brick that was downstreamed and rinsed with the same 0540 nozzle that I use.

Point taken.

I DS everything, and Iā€™ve had good luck with stucco. True, Iā€™ve had a few that I may have had to hit a couple of times, but who cares. Its kept me from having to buy and use an xjet which I have no desire to do. But as for brick, no trouble at all. So yes, I believe you can definitely clean brick and stucco by DSā€™ing. Now I will be honest and say that I am looking at a 12v system. But Iā€™m looking at it for a roof system. But if I do get it Iā€™m sure it would get used for other things than just roofs.

Yes I think I took a shot without aiming here lol. All downstream injectors are different and I use a 4gpm/4K machine and usually get good results. Itā€™s just brick and stucco I find myself reapplying a lot. My eyes are on a system simply because I have a lot of inquires for roof washing. But Iā€™m sure itā€™s one of those things where once you try it you would use it for much more. Funny thing is my local supplier is against those systems and swears I can clean any roof with an xjet lol. That is possible however not practical. Iā€™m sure that is because he doesnā€™t sell any ā€œsoft wash/roof pump setupsā€.

Brad if you want to test mine out just give me a call itā€™s one of the best investments weā€™ve made. If you get a roof let me know. All I ask is for you to cover the cost of the SH used. Iā€™d enjoy watching someone else work for a change. Lol

I downstream brick nearly every day and clean stucco ds also. Just depends. There is no ā€˜set in stone formulaā€™ or canned answer. Reason you need the tools and/or experience to deal with different situations.

We did that HUGE brick home with a stucco front entrance and only time we touched the 12volt was for that black mold spot in the corner on that stucco. Probably didnt even need it. I think you was just showing how it worked lol (i believe that was the first time a met you)

Hey

Iā€™ve always downstreamed (4 years). Itā€™s true, there are a few jobs where you need stronger chemical.

Personally, I donā€™t touch roofs, but a stronger mix to throw down on a particularly mouldy/black driveway would be very beneficial - both pre and post.

Even with a post treatment of neat SH, I regularly find myself with a sprayer doing touch-ups of bits that canā€™t be shifted with the surface cleaner or would need too much pressure with the gun/wand/lance.

Iā€™d like to try a high draw injector, but Iā€™ve struggled with finding someone who will ship one to me in Australia :frowning:

True indeed. Like i said Iā€™m still new in my first year learning tricks of the trade. It may very well be the fact that most homes I get seemed to have never been cleaned since the civil waršŸ¤£

Like tools in a toolbox 1 tool wonā€™t do it allā€¦ya canā€™t turn a nut with a screwdriverā€¦the same as you canā€™t clean concrete with dedicated pump systemsā€¦you can bleach it but thatā€™s not cleaning concreteā€¦ yes DSā€™ing properly is soft washingā€¦90% of what we clean is DSā€™edā€¦the other 10% we use 12vā€™s, air systems, or udor low psi systemsā€¦right tool for the right job that maximizes efficiency. Is what itā€™s all aboutā€¦ if youā€™ve been washing full time for 12 years youā€™re doing just fine, and better than mostā€¦all that matters is whatā€™s in the bankā€¦just saying.

Not to take this thread off track (too far) but, you guys who are considering buying a 12 volt system, please feel free to call me and Iā€™ll help you set up a DIY 12 volt system for way cheaper than a vendor-built one.

Also, you may want to consider building a small (1-2 gpm) ā€œChem cartā€ I use mine more often than my roof pump. Itā€™s great for pre-treating driveways and spot treating stubborn stucco, dryvit, etc areas after downstreaming. I think I posted the link for it on here a year or two ago. If not, Iā€™ll post it later on if you guys want it.

Good to see you @GuyB

I built my original 12v system piece by piece (before I sold it) for less than $400 with battery, pump, used tank, and hose. It paid for itself on one roof job. Itā€™s handy to have for time when downstreaming just doesnā€™t cut it, but I canā€™t imagine buying a vendor Soft Wash setup for thousands of dollars. They might look pretty, but not as pretty as money staying in my pocket.
