Downstream ratio

So I did the test today. My container wouldn’t hold 50 gallons, but it held 30, so I based my numbers there. If my assumptions on the math are correct, in that there isn’t a problem using 30 gallons as opposed to 50 gallons, then I’m putting plenty of chorline on the house. We primarily use two nozzles, a 15 degree and a 0 degree so I did approximately 1/2 and 1/2. Both are #30 and I really don’t know if it matters about switching between them but I was trying to be true to how we wash. Here’s what I got.

Of course, the soap bucket had only water, but when washing it will contain 2.5 Gallons Water / 2.5 Gallons SH / 5 oz Elemonator.

Quantity in Container: 30 Gallons
Wash Water: 26.25 Gallons
Soap: 3.75 Gallons
Ratio of 7%
SH: 12.5%
Percentage on the House: 1.79%

This is directed to Sandi and is off topic… I see you said you are using a 30 tip. Do you know how high or far your 0030 shoots? I have been using a 40 and tested today… without wind… 30-35’

thanks in advanced

It’s a windy day here today. I went out and pulled the trigger, but it’s really hard to tell. We haven’t had any difficulty getting to the peaks of 2 story homes unless there is wind. Then we fight a bit. I’ve thought of putting a #40 on there and see if the additional volume would help or hinder the distance.

I tried running 50/50 mix at 10/1 downstream was way to strong as soon as it hit the mildew it was gone. To quick for my taste.

If you use the formulas above using the bucket method an say you have a 10:1 ratio and are using 12% SH. That would work out that you are a applying 1.2% of SH right? But wouldn’t that mean your 5 gallon bucket would be all SH? How do you figure it out if you mix say 3 gallons of water with 2 gallons of SH in your 5 gallon bucket?

stained, try it like this : 3 gallons 12.5% and 2 gallons of water. 60% of your mix is the bleach.
12.5% x 60% = 7.5% bleach in your bucket ready to be downstreamed. If your injector is 10:1
you will be getting 7.5 divided by 10 = .75% or 3/4 of 1% solution to the wall. Hope that helps.:o

 Thanks man!!!

Hey guys this was my first year on soft washing . Houses turned out great , roofs not so great. Matter of fact I have to redo a roof. Last roof was 12% sh mixed at 40% . Customer called a few days ago and said that the black streaks were still there. Can anyone help me on this so that I don’t have to go back again.

Bringing this back from the dead and I’m sure the answer is somewhere else but I haven’t found it yet. If you’re shooting for .75 to 1% on the house, what % of solution would be sufficient for roof cleaning. Shingle and metal roofs. Thanks!

3-5% for shingles. @Racer told you what to use on metal in the thread you started.

man I totally missed that, thanks brother!

Listen to Tim. Tim knows bleach. Bleach good. I just realized you’re Tim Fields. The same Tim fields on fb that is constantly cracking me up. Cheers!

Wait. What? You thought that there were two of us? Oh my.

I honestly just haven’t paid attention. Just reading “well tim4 said this” then I looked at your profile pic and it hit me. It’s Tim Fields! The Bleach guy!!

I have 2/1 injector on a 4000pis 4gpm I’m using 10% sh. Anyone know what ratio that is? Is that putting to much sh?

You probably have a 2.1 injector. They don’t make a 2/1 injector. You ratio depends on how you are mixing the 10%. Fill up a 20 ounce pepsi bottle and downstream out of it. Do it for a minute and tgen simple math will give you a ratio. Ratio doesn’t matter though. You’ll know if it’s strong enough if stuff comes clean

Yes it’s 2.1 I run straight 10% I can’t get 12.5% unless I order 55gal I was wondering I see everyone using a 15.1 injector so I was just trying to see i need to change what I’m using. The 2.1 is the one that came with the setup.

2.1 means 2.1 millimeter size orifice.
