Downstream injector wont draw

Hey fellas, I’m new to pressure washing, and I’ve got a problem.
My setup:
Honda GX390
Direct drive 4200psi 4gpm
'150 of high pressure hose.
2.1mm downstream injector
So here’s my problem, I can draw SH without a gun on my high pressure hose. But as soon as I put my 12 GPM general pump gun on there it will not draw SH. One guy from Pressure Tek told me I needed a 1.8 mm injector if using more than '100 of hose. I didn’t think that made sense since that would create more pressure and don’t you need a larger orifice to draw? Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum. Are you using a tip on your gun when testing the injector? If so, what size orifice? Do you have another gun you can test with?

What kinda injector are you using?

Here’s an article from PT about how pressure differential on the injector is affected by length of hose

https://pressuretek.com/downstream-article

I’ve tried without a tip and also with my J rod specifically made for my 4gpm machine from Pressure Tek. I’ve used 3 different guns, all quality brands and proper gpm and pressure rating. Any ideas on what I can do?

2.1mm Adam’s

Pressure Tek is correct, I couldn’t draw @ 150 ft ,but could @ 100 ft, got a smaller orfice ,bingo. Imo after that Adams takes a crap,go with the GP high draw. Last longer ,draws better, and is cheaper, and no orfice swapping around, from a 100 ft,150ft,200ft, @ same draw ratio…$16…Its all about the venturi affect created ,read the article @PristineGC sent you

Agree 100% with @Hotshot, General Pump injector is the best and cheap to boot. I also run one size down (2.1mm) on 250’ sometimes 300’ of hose no problem. Most on here run DS injector one size down

@Cdr1013222 and when you buy your new GP injector, buy at least 2

My 8gpm machine draws just fine with a 2.1 injector on 250’ of hose. Never tried 300’ but I would bet a shiny new nickel that it would draw. You likely need to go down a size. GP high draw works great. I have one that’s been going strong all season. Of course, I don’t wash 50 houses a week yet either.

I’ve tried them all. Adams $$,Envirospec, super sucker$$$, SS super sucker $$$$ etc…I finally found GP high draw from pressure Tek $ . I work it 30,40 hrs a week on both. DS, High PH soaps, Citric,Phosphoric and HF acids through them ever time. Make sure you rinse after every job and it will last ya’ll a long while. Also make sure you don’t have any air leaks between your drop tubes and the injector, and leaks in your high pressure line, whip line, hose reel…hope this helps ya

I rinse mine after every job. Takes two minutes and definitely helps

I run a 3 way ball valve to rinse my injector & it lasts all season just about. also I use 225 feet of hose, and still use the 3-5 gpm injector. No issues. Get the gp high draw for sure.

Any suggestions for a shut off ball valve on high pressure line for switching from gun to surface cleaner? I got one off Amazon a couple weeks ago, and already crapped out. JUNK! Links appreciated.

Do this and put a 1/4 inch male qc in your surface cleaner. `

The Adams injectors suck. I had a problem with draw on them too. Buy the GP high draw. I use a 2.1 for a 4k psi 4 gpm GP high draw with no problem. 250’ of hose.

industry standard
Might as well get it and a mosmatic while you’re getting that hi draw injector.
