Door Hangers Vs Post Cards

It’s that time of year to put some ideas to the test!

Post card size or door hangers? Please share what has worked for you best

I did it for a different business in a different sector but door hangars tend to be better. Post cards require that you spend the money on postage and really just get thrown in with the other junk mail of the day. Plus, you can’t guarantee that they will arrive clean. Door hangars allow you to do a nicer front and back where you can show before and after pictures with your information. Not to mention no postage and you can guarantee it gets on the door in great shape. Only downside is that you have to beat the pavement to do it but that can allow you to pick and choose your business a little too.

I had much better luck with door hangers. You’ll hit or miss with both, but with hangers when you miss it won’t cost an arm and a leg. You can’t reach as many people, obviously, but I got a much better call rate from the hangers. Just make sure they look nice. I had mine professionally designed and printed.

Where you live at do contractors put up yard signs where they work? They do it all over around here. Most of them never come back to take them down. I’ve seen them in yards in the middle of winter for a roof done in the spring. Just a thought. Two buddies of mine are framers/roofers and it is one of the first things they do when they get to a job site, they have about 10-15 in their trailer at all times.

I went through the country club neighborhood over the summer and passed out 150 business cards on doorsteps. It seemed like the right neighborhood as people could obviously afford the service, but I did not get one single call. Seems a postcard is just a bigger version of a business card. By the same token I do feel that people who get postcards in the mail would view it as a real business not just some guy passing his cards out. I bet the door hangers with before and after pictures, and a picture of your rig so they see what your working with, would be a big help. Include licensed and insured on it. Also as mentioned above you can pick the homes that definitely need the service. I look for homes that have nice landscaping and no clutter but are dirty. If a guy has a dead lawn and crap all around his house and a filthy car out front you know he doesn’t care and won’t purchase the service. Since your in LA (I’m just north of SF) we both have similar reasons for people wanting their homes cleaned. Not so much for mold and mildew but because our customers already have a nice home, nice cars, big wedding rings etc. and they don’t need anything else, except to keep what they already have immaculate.

150 Cards is very low, Sometimes you might get lucky and get a call… I’d be doing 4,000 per week
