Dont be this guy

Ya thats overkill for me. No need for a BB gun

I bought this to help be alittle safer.

You never did install a barb in the valve cover or order that carb isolator to get pulse for a fuel pump, did you? You could draw fuel right out of that gas can and would never have to fill it. I like what @dperez does. He pulls fuel right from the gas tank of the truck. At least I think I remember him saying that. He might use an electric fuel pump though. When I do a truck build I’m definitely doing that.

I have the carb isolator in my shop somewhere. After mounting my machine in the spot i did i havnt had time to undo the plumbing and pull the PW off to install it. Im buying a 8 in the next few months anyways and ricks dual axle trailer.

All my F550’s have a capped auxiliary port coming off the trucks fuel pump/sending unit. My pulse pump draws it over. The auxiliary fuel drop tube going down into the fuel tank is well above the trucks drop tube so you can never run the tank dry. It will leave you a quarter tank for the truck to get where it needs to go.

I also used a SureCan when filling, still managed to spill some on the tank.

That was good thinking and a great idea.

That’s all factory installed but yes I’m glad design engineers used half a brain on that one.

I got ya. I was thinking what you were calling the auxiliary was the drop tube you installed. Something I would probably have to do on a 3/4 ton.

Yes, I would imagine. It’s there for service trucks to tap into for air compressors, generators and what not. You see the paper tag and the short drop tube? That’s the oneW01331862885MTR

Good stuff ! Good intel !

I have fueled a lot of hot engines and never had a problem,I always thought you had to have a spark to start a fire - like filling a gas can in the back of a truck and static electricity igniting gas fumes

Takes about 500 degrees of heat to ignite it. I remember when i was a teen i tried to light gas with a cigarette. I literally put the cigarette out in the gas. Movies tricked me.

Yeah, but you probably started walking away trying to look all tough and cool, casually flicked the cigarette up in the air towards a puddle of gas, murmured some hardcore phrase, and missed the puddle of gas.

Maybe it would work if you did miss? I think a lot of it has to do with the fumes when it comes to igniting or fumes ignite more easily. Something like that I think.

Ya i threw it in the fire pit covered in gas and ran 10+ yards before it hit the ground :joy::joy:. Nothing happened and seen it soaking wet. As far as the looking cool thing. That was me when i had to light the fireworks. You cant run away and look like a sissy. You got to light it then walk away slowly as tough as possible.

I was anything but cool when I lit a propane tank on fire. It was all fun until I turned it on too much and it got away from me. I think the noise scared me too, I was 12 years old or so. Spinning torch about 30’ long, it would settle down and I’d try and jump on it but then it start spinning again. We had no choice but to let it keep going. Burned two trees really good, just about all the grass in the backyard and the back corner of the house was scorched pretty good. Man I got whooped so good, last time I played with :fire:

Hahaha…that’s freaking hilarious…lol

I’ve done some pretty stupid stuff with fire and explosives but never lit a propane tank on fire!..lol I guess if I would’ve thought about it at age 12 I might’ve tried. Everything seems like a good idea at that age. I was going to tell a story about a 500 stick sparkler bomb and a washing machine but probably shouldn’t on here. I was 24 though and not 12…lol… All I have to say is if the single sparkler that’s used for the wick breaks don’t shove 3 more together for the wick. You can normally slowly walk away with one but three together burn much faster.

I have filled hot pressure washers and spilled gas on them regularly without any problems. Now I will be careful.
