Do you use Home Advisor or Thumbtack?

How am i scummy…?

And yes i wanted to delete the post because i didn’t explain myself well so i am getting more questions than i can answer.

I am marketer who helps a local PW get leads. He’s happy. Probably half his business comes from me. He has no complaints and even asks me to expand to more cities.

Also…i just wanted advice on how you all pay for leads…if you use H.Advisor/Thumbtack. I didn’t try to sell you or anyone anything so…

Yes, i will look for someone else if it doesn’t workout with him. I will ask for a higher % first before cutting him off.

Thank you!

You came here and made a post asking contractors what lead generation sites they use. You created a profile name that would lead others to believe that you are also a contractor. You began deleting comments as soon as I mentioned that your tactics are scummy.

It goes back to that whole “looks like a duck, quacks like a duck” thing. And, buddy, I’m pretty good at spotting ducks. People with legitimate intentions don’t do shady things like deleting comments.

YET

For all we know, this “customer” of this doesn’t even exist.

In short, it just wreaks of scummy.

“You came here and made a post asking contractors what lead generation sites they use”
I didn’t just ask what sites they use, I asked how much they pay for leads so i can compare it with my percentage.
AND YES, I Literally just told you I wanted to delete the post but the site won’t let me delete the whole post. You’re acting like I am hiding the fact that I wanted it deleted. I didn’t feel like answering the many questions and also realized I confused some ppl.

I don’t understand how my marketing skills are scummy. You act like i am scamming someone. I have a website for my local client generating leads. How is this scummy? I want you to answer this question.

After working with this client for almost 3 years, you would think he’d have caught on to my scummy ways huh wow.

So because you don’t believe it, it makes it scummy. I can’t deal with your stupidity.

I didn’t ask anyone to buy anything from me, didnt plan on it. I prefer my local client or someone else local and wouldn’t be looking for clients on a forum.

I came for advice. Read the original post. Let me know if you don’t understand anything.

You do marketing for a living and are asking us where to get leads?

I just don’t know what else to say. I feel bad for your client

Firstly, I do not answer to anyone but God and my wife. Especially not scummy salesmen on the internet. Better luck next time, hoss.

Secondly, I think it is YOU that do not understand. We have seen your scummy type here before. They do not last long and neither will you. As @SurfaceTherapy just stated, I feel bad for your “client”. Although, I do not believe that he/she even exists. I think you are a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

So, be gone, troll. Take your scummy tactics elsewhere. They are not wanted or needed around here.

You’re really winning over your target clientele here, bud. I’ll give you a tip: We already know you’re shady. Your incessant post deletions are proof. Take off the wool and show us your true shade of scum.

So you are a marketer and don’t know what to charge?

Again…I feel bad for your client. I think he is overpaying

And you likely never will.

"Not sure is this post is allowed so kindly let me know if its not, and I’ll delete it (if possible)

I’ve been working with my brother who owns a Pressure Washing company. Working on his websites and helping him get calls/more customers. It’s going great and we are expanding to more cities.

I want to branch out and work with other Pressure Wash Companies in other states/cities. Would anyone be interested in something like this?

How it works…quick summary: I set up a site that I’d own in your city but you’d take the calls that come from it. You can still have your own site.

Thank you."

You have already solicited this forum for business in the past and were rightfully called out for it. Surely you are smart enough to realize that WE CAN ALL SEE YOUR POST HISTORY, right?

Scummy is probably not even the right word for you at this point.

I get what you’re trying to figure out. You’re just asking if 10% is a good fee to charge to “sub” out work. Short answer is yes. That’s a good fee. A lot of contractors take anywhere between 10-20% when they hire outside contractors to complete work. Some just give the jobs away.

If you’re a marketing dude and the guy is taking your leads and going around you, find another guy to “sell” the leads to. But if you guys are happy with the arrangement, continue on.

Check this person’s post history out. Their story about being cheated is likely completely fabricated in order to gain some amount of sympathy from the members. This person is attempting, and failing, to use this board as their personal feedback machine in order to better formulate their plan of attack. They have solicited the forum on multiple occasions. Their “client” does not exist. At first, their “client” was their brother. I guess that family doesn’t mind cheating their own out of money. I’m sure they would have no qualms about doing worse to you or any other stranger they lure into their web of deceit.

Most companies that do what you do charge a flat fee for leads, not a %. You put their number on the website that you create and control and track the incoming calls through a call service such as ‘CallFire’. End of month you send them a bill for number of calls you got. If you’re going to do what you’re doing for a service you should learn something about it. Building lead generation sites for clients has been around for 10 years or longer. I get solicited for them weekly. I’ve built a few of them in the past. If you’re good with local SEO or Adwords can be fairly profitable.

Thumbtack charges between $11-$18 per lead and Home Advisor around mid $20’s. I get solicited for about $10 per lead here lately.

My experience with Thumbtack is they charge about $8-24 per lead. It isn’t a good deal if they are sending you leads from 100+ miles away which I have seen them do regularly. The way to combat it is to turn off automatch. Then I only get sent the leads I choose. An $8 lead is probably $150 job. If the guy you are sending the work to is trying to cheat you why not find another person to send the work to?
