Do you follow up power washing with window cleaning?

I have raised my house wash rices & inclued exterior window cleaning with my W.F.P. as a courtesy. I have also included it in my estimates as an option. Trying to see which one works out better for me

Clark will the gold package have more services than the bronze or is it at different levels of clean?

Chris it will be more levels of service. Ie bronze - house wash, silver house wash, ext window cleaning, gold hw ext window, gutter whitening , roof cleaning. Still in the works every time I look at it I think of something else. Plus I’ll probably offer something similar on my roof cleaning page.

Wanted to bring this back up again to see some new experiences with window cleaning up selling

I just ask they want their exterior glass cleaned for X amount. People kept askin me “how much is it if I don’t want my windows cleaned?” & some other people say “I have my window cleaner coming after your done”. It worked for some customers but not the majority. Now it is an up sell for me.

What do you use for gutter whitening? I’m looking for ways to add on

How do you all price windows? Square footage? I really want to add this to our services.

David, I normally do window cleaning as the main service and price by the window.
But when I’m adding it on to pressure washing, I’ll either price it the same way or just come up with a price based on about how long I think it will take me. In most cases, cleaning the outsides real well is halfway or more done with the pressure washing, so the upsell at even a slightly lower than normal rate can be more profitable than ever.

We were a window cleaning that does some house washing.

Anytime we get a pressure washing job I always try to sell windows too. I just tell them the windows will look streaky, its just the water drying and cant help it. We close 90% by telling them this simple fact.

Today I just sold a house wash package which will include some window washing. I’ve been looking into getting a wfp setup and doing research. I seen on wcr.com an unger starter kit with a di tank. Will that be good enough to get the ball rolling or is there anything else I would need to add to that setup… i.e. pumps, tank, etc. Thanks

Nick, whether you need more than a di tank largely depends on what the TDS generally is in your area. If it’s into the mid-100’s and up an ro filter would make your usage more cost-effective. Low 100’s and down, you should do pretty well with just a di tank. If you’re going to be doing mostly 1 and 2 floor homes a 25’ or so pole would be sufficient. Enough third stories and you’d need at least a 35’ to make it go well. You usually don’t need a pump doing house windows. If there is a widespread issue with low water pressure or there are super tall houses, then a pump could be helpful. But most likely a pump for you would be just a second option or a nice emergency backup.

Ok thanks.I’ll definitely get a meter and check that.

Yeah, pressure washing first eliminates most of the problems with first time cleans using the WFP. The SH of the house wash loosens all the dirt on the windows.

I can almost cut my time in half (window portion of the job) by doing a house was first.

Will a simple pure water cylinder that a homes water hose connects to and a water fed pole be enough for residential?

Yes, DEPENDING on average TDS in your area. If your incoming TDS is high, you’ll spend a fortune on DI resin, in which case an RO system would be better. Also, depending on the average height of the homes you do, you can make a DIY waterfed pole pretty cheap. Feel free to PM me if you want more info on that.

You can text 205-799-9069, this forum is not user friendly for me because every time I come to it I have to log back on.
Im going to get my post up also.
Where is the place to get a TDS tester to check the water before I buy?
The building I was ask to quote is three stories

You can get a TDS meter from Window Cleaning Resource. I think they cost around $30. If you’re going to be doing three story buildings with any regularity you’ll definitely want a proper waterfed pole. My DIY pole is better suited for occasional residential work.

I refer most of my window cleaning requests to a Window Cleaner in my area, so my set-up is perfect for what I do, but probably wouldn’t work well for you.

I have a customer Thursday that is making me do the windows after. Who am I to yell, give the extra $175!

Yep! The only reason that I don’t do more is because I have an agreement with the Window Cleaner I mentioned earlier…he sends me all of his power washing requests, and I send him all of my window cleaning requests. Thing is, he stays ridiculously busy, so I still do windows on occasion for my customers when he isn’t able to get to them. It works out great because he hates power washing and I’m not real keen on window cleaning!

Bob’s elemonator works so well, most customers are more than happy with how the windows look after
the house wash, even if they are on a well. I am thinking of running an exterior only RO/DI window wash
special price this fall. I will keep every one posted.
