Sediment and carbon pre-filters are useless when it comes to DI, the do not remove any minerals from the water that affect the life of the resin or the purity of the water.

Aquarium RO systems won’t create enough water in a day to support window cleaning.

Building an RO system can be cheaper but not easier and there is no warranty.

It’s screwing in some fittings. Changing DI is like putting sand in a sand box except you only need 1 bag (1 cubic foot)
This is correct. When you start to see or hard water stains it’s time to change the resin. AKA dumping sand in a sand box and screwing your lid (very not difficult)

Seriously, it just refers to water that’s been purified for the purpose of window cleaning. Most guys use an RO/DI or just DI system to remove the dissolved solids from the water. Typically water filtered to a TDS of 10 ppm or less will achieve spot free results, but most window cleaners shoot for 0 ppm for the most consistent results.
You’ll have to do your own searching to learn more
