Dirty looking water from well, is it bad to put through the pump?

I just filled my buffer tank at a house that had to have water brought in because the well has dried up. The water when I looked inside is very dark brown almost like a polluted lake. Aside from it obviously probably not cleaning very well is it going to be bad for my pump to have this kind of dirty water going through it?

Aren’t you the guy that says he does “personalized whole-home details”? And you’re asking if you should do that with disgusting dirty water?

No good imho.

Don’t let that enter your pump. Drain and flush the tank

Yes that’s correct. This is an insurance job for a recent fire that burned on his property. The fire department used up all the well water so the client had to get some pumped in and it stirred up well. There wasn’t very much sediment at all plus I have a sediment filter and it didn’t smell bad but it sure was brown. I took a chance and cleaned everything with it. I’m not gonna lie it was kind of deceiving I couldn’t tell if the house was dirty or if it was just dirty water. It was probably both. Surprisingly, the house looked clean, but I won’t be doing that again.
