Di tank, wfp hose reel setup

My half cube DI tank keeps up at 4+ gpm. That’s with only 35-45 ppm from the tap, though :smirk:

Smaller hose is much easier to manage, though. I like the 3/8” bulk flexzilla from amazon. Reasonably priced and just the right length.

As I understand it, the Workhorse/Polisher 2 tank setup can bite you if you’re not careful. When a batch of DI resin reaches its full saturation point, it can then start rapidly “bleeding off” dissolved solids, fouling the second tank faster.

You just gotta keep an eye on the tds coming from your workhorse tank, and make sure to replace the resin before its outgoing tds is just as high as the incoming.

What I have done is installed a dedicated 18 inch reel that has 300 feet of flexzilla. I pull off the first 100 feet and connect it from the spigot to my splitter on the truck via a camlock. The water can go to my buffer tank, over to another splitter before the hose reel to switch between straight to the reel or over to My DI Tank via a three-way splitter. I can then send water either directly to the hose reel to use the 200’ flexzilla hose as an extra hose around the property for my tech to rinse plants or the Wall or whatever. Or I can send it to the di tank then to the hose reel. I use the same flexzilla to connect to my 50’ 1/4” wfp line. It seems to work fine as the 1/4” reduces flow when it drops down. This way I can leave everything mounted to the truck and with the couple turns on the splitters I can just pull my hose From the reel over to wherever I want with wfp and not have to cart around the filter.

Pic?.

This is now before my new unger ultra 1 stage comes in next week. I am going to permanently mount it in line and add the splitters. Then in the future when it’s time to detail the windows I just flip 2 splitters, unroll the reel and connect to my wfp!

Those who use a ro-di, how long before the reverse osmosis side needs maintenance/ replacement of filter/membrane? I do a fair amount of jobs on wells. I think the ro would be a good addition, if you don’t need to replace the membrane often…

What’s your TDS?

I see about 200 to 330 ppm regularly on wells. So far for those jobs i carry water but i can’t carry water for a whole day of wfp. Wfp is new to me. Got reach-it equipment with 2 di tanks but already went through almost 500$ of resin in a month.

This ro membrane was 3.5 years of service… noticed we were burning through resin too much…

No parts replacement for around 3 years? No maintenance other than sediment and carbon filters? Is this right? Then the membrane is around 2000$ or so?

RO membrane was under $400 to replace…

Ok, this is the one i’m considering. Anyone has any feedback with this?

Thank you. I think i’ll go forward then.

They’re all the same. (3) stage… (4) stage… If you’re going to buy a movable unit, I’d go with a (3) stage unit (lighter in weight) We run a mounted unit and use 1/4 in tubing for supply hose.

Good to know.

I’ll confirm that you’d get about 3 years before replacing RO.

Xero from WCR blows anything else away due to warranty and customer service. Go on chat and ask for Steve-O. He’ll do you right.
