DI only pulls soap when I throttle it down

Hey folks, so I have a Honda gx 690, comet pump, 8gpm 3000 psi, GP 2.1 3-5 gpm downstream injector, summit hose reel, ST 2315 gun, 2560 and 2540 tips
And so with all that i can’t pull soap with either tips, i moved the dsi from the pump to by the reel and nothing, replaced dsi with new one, nothing, used another 2315, nothing, shortened the dsi hose, nothing, changed the oil in both pump and motor, nothing, adjusted the spring on the unloader, nothing.

There only thing i can think of is that it may be an issue with the belt? It doesn’t squeal, but would that change the rpms and affect the pump’s ability to pull soap?
The only way for me to pull soap is if i throttle the machine down half way

Any ideas as to what the issue may be?

You are using tips for a 5.5 gpm with the 40. Use 50’s. Does it pull without a nozzle?

Either your injector sucks or you have to much back pressure after the injector

It doesn’t pull without nozzles

The only extra thing i have is a super swivel on the reel before the hose, and another on one of my guns
But that swivel ID is huge.

I’m guessing it’s the undersized DSIs

How much hose you running? I had this problem on a 4gpm machine when I ran more than 150 ft of hose. If I connected it before the last 50 ft section no problems. At the reel, didn’t work.

250 continuous, 3/8 from United hose

:point_up:t2:Isn’t that odd. I have that setup and it works perfectly.

I’m this situation, I’d test both injectors before messing with anything. Put it at the gun end and try.

If hose is run over a lot it will flatten to the point of restricting flow & injectors will stop pulling & threaded can build up scale & restrict flow pull plug or socket & run a bit through crimped or swaged 3/8 ends you would be surprised how restricted they become.

I’ll have to try a dsi at the gun on Monday

@Maelstrom, I don’t think my hose has been ran over excessively, but i suppose it could just take one heavy vehicle to do it harm
