Degreaser on chimney

I don’t have X Jet and wouldn’t want to drag out roof hose just for this. I would lean ladder on roof, mix up 1/2 water 1/2 12.5 with a splash of surfactant in pump up sprayer and soak the chimney good. Then use turbo nozzle to clean. The mix in sprayer would help cut the gunk. Shouldn’t take more than ten minutes.

Good call on the pump up sprayer, forgot about that.:ok_hand:

I am all for keeping it simple. 90% of my business is just vinyl siding and spraying off the exterior of the gutters. Little to no concrete, decks, or other time wasting things. Looking into more commercial work though.

I cleaned one just like this a few weeks ago. It should clean up very nice. And with pump up sprayer you shouldn’t have much overspray at all. All your mix should be on the brick itself. As long as you do it from the roof of course.

I can only dream.

I just don’t try to upsell unless it’s a slam dunk.

What!@! Are you serious. What the ■■■■ is a slam dunk. Do you pressure wash for a living

Everyone is throwing out ideas but your pic of chimney doesn’t reference backside of house. Is it 2 stories or 1 story? Difference in a 20’ chimney and a 35 ft chimney.

Slam dunk is an expression from basket ball. Kinda means making a point easily and with style. Or something like that. Upsells would destroy my business model. If a homeowner wants something cleaned, I need to know when I put it on the schedule, there isn’t time to add on something later. I don’t offer decks, driveways, windows etc so there really shouldn’t be much to add-on.

Louisville has a lot of drop-out back houses, so this one is two stories in the front and three in the back. They have an upper deck that I took the pic from, I’d say the chimney is about 25’ from the deck.

Technically from top of house to basement level is closer to 5 stories.:flushed:

I think he means he won’t offer to do something ‘extra’ unless he knows it can be done correctly and they will go for it.

For example, I offer screen repair on top of WC. If I didn’t think they would be interested and I couldn’t do it right, I wouldn’t ask about it.

Why the hostility?

It’s not hostility but damit. I get the up sell. What I dont get is why people are not willing to put a little effort in do some scrubbing with a brush. You have or put the extra effort in when it is needed. Not every job is a “slam dunk”. I get taking them when you can but not doing anything unless it’s a slam dunk os one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. You cant retire off off a single job do what you got to do. Do it well and at a fair price and you will never go wrong it business 101

I think he meant ‘slam dunk’ as in he’s physically capable of doing it correctly…as in the stars aligning. Maybe.

Maybe I read it in the wrong context seams to me like he meant if it’s not easy money he doesn’t sell it. Not the first time I have been wrong

I’m wrong a lot…

About the other post, scrubbing will not work. As for a slam dunk, that means I can do it correctly and already have the knowledge. Providing the best service possible for a few high profit services is better than being mediocre at a million things.

I’ve got lost in this thread but if this was for me, yes, I don’t sell it if it’s not easy. I’ve done this too long to want to do something that is hard.

Yeah I am with you. My profits have doubled since I cut out the things that are not making me as much money and instead focused on getting a higher dollar per job on the things that take less time. Meaning I now sell vinyl siding cleaning for the same price I used to sell a house wash + gutter scrubbing + patio cleaning + gutter cleaning.

If you are smart you wont have to work any harder than possible. I am with you on this one.

Well you gotta do what works for you. Not all the jobs are easy. I’m not knocking you I love companies that turn down the work that’s not hard but just takes a little elbow grease more work for me. The question is do you want to do 10 easy jobs or one hard one?

Why will scrubbing not work
