This year I am trying to learn more about deck washing. I have been reading and print off of the site here for a couple of weeks. I ordered some F8, F 10 and F18 and I lined up some of my friends to do free jobs and get a feel for how some of the chemicals. The deck tomorrow is about 15 years old and bare wood that my buddy wants to stain. I am planning to use F18 and F8 in the manner I have read about here recently. I have a compostie deck at my house that I was going to try the F8 on to get rid of the tanin spots.
Here is my question though the deck on Tuesday (also a friend) in stained, but they do not want to restain it. It has mold on it and normally I would use house wash and a low rinse tip, but is there a better way?
I assume I do not want to use F18 because I do not want to strip the stain. So what wold you guys suggest F10/F8 or Sh/F8, or just Sh?
Thanks for the feed back. This is not a normal customer job so I can try a few different things if I want to. Thanks for the help.
Joe
Here is a picture
House wash mix strong enough to remove that mold has the chance of removing a little stain as well. It won’t be like you stripped it, but it may need some touching up.
The key to maintaining a stained deck is to have it washed before it’s green. A milder mix for maintenance cleaning will be less likely to remove stain.
Double post…
bubbad2u, for removing tannin stains, see thread -composite deck cleaning- Everett Abrams great advice
in his replies. GTRider245 his advice on stained decks, you can not go wrong on this advice either.

Just an update on these. The deck in the picture I just applied a HW mix to and let it set about 10 minutes. Low pressure rinse and it turned out very nice. It lighted up a shade or two, but I believe that was mostly all of the dirt being removed. Buddy was very happy.
Other project was very old UV damaged wood, I used F10 and F8, I think it turned out really good. I was very impressed with what the chemicals did.
One thing though, I applied the F10 with a pump up sprayer, and packing up I stepped on the wand and broke it. I put the sprayer in my enclosed trailer and forgot to release the pressure. Riding down the road I guess the pressure built up and the sprayer blew up all over the inside of the trailer. When I got home there were suds coming out the doors:D
At least the trailer floor is nice and clean

Read the MSDS. Sodium percarbonate chem, when mixed with water, produces a lot of O2, and builds up pressure if not released. It also is not effective after 5 or 6 hours after mixing. Not a bad way to clean the floor of your truck, google oxiclean.
