Deck Soft Wash Questions

Hi guys,

First time poster, long time reader. I wash in Brisbane, Australia.

I have been doing this for a year and a bit but am looking into different chemicals other than SH.

I have a deck wash tomorrow that is moderately dirty and have been reading up on sodium percarbonate as an effective cleaner but have not had the time to get to the right store that sells it before the weekend and they are closed on the weekends here in Brisbane.

And i have read amongst these forums some people using sodium carbonate (washing soda). Can anyone confirm its effectiveness and to what ratio i will need to mix to help kill the mold. From what i have read it has low risk of leaving marks when drying? I don’t intend to use high pressure in the form of a lance or surface cleaner. I have an X-jet downstream system from a 10hp 10litre per minute machine.

Hopefully i have provided enough details, happy to provide more.

All the best,
Brad

I use sodium hydroxide, bleach, add a little elemenator. I either downstream or x-jet with no proportioner, depending on how dirty it is. Dwell 5-10 mins and rinse away at about 6-800 psi.

I use 4 ounces of sodium percarbonate to 1 gallon of warm water, directly apply on surface, dwell 10 minutes, rinse 800 psi. If real green I’ll use 1% or so SH.

There arent too many places that sell PERcarbonate here in Brisbane, a couple of beer brewing places (one closed Mondays and the other is out of stock). Unless it is sold under a name like F-10 (not available in Oz) then I am not sure where to find it. Will Sodium Carbonate have any effect? Maybe if I do a 1% SH and a cup or two of sodium carbonate mixed with some elbow grease?

Have you checked Amazon? I use pressure tek but I know you can get it on there. Not sure the shipping cost to Australia but in the states it’s free, might be there too?

Just get some Napisan, its main ingredient is sodium P
