nice job

Looks good

I don’t usually do decks because they are so time consuming but made an exception today!

What mix, dwell time, and any post treatment?

Looks good, nicely done

Thanks @Racer. @PWP5gpm

  1. Pre-wet dwell 15 mins. Wet nearby vegetation and nearby grass.
  2. Pump up sprayer 1 gallon. 1/3 gallon 10% SH, 2/3 water, 1 ounce Elemonator. Spray on literally and then quick scrub with 15 min dwell.
  3. White tip low pressure spray around 8” from surface at a 45 degree angle walking while holding a consistent height over wood. No back and forth.
  4. One more application SH,H20,Elim on super dirty spots. 5 min dwell on those areas.
  5. One final quick pass on all horizontal boards and vertical supports at 45 degree angle at about 4-5” away.
  6. Application of Oxalic Acid of 8-10oz per gallon applied on wet wood. By the time you have applied the entire deck it will have already done its work.
  7. Rinse off Ox with light spray white tip from 3-4 feet away.
  8. Done

*The key is never to backtrack while doing wood. One one pass at a time. You can make a second pass coming back, but won’t be able to hide those tiger stripes with back and forth motion.

Cool. That turned out really nice!

Okay guys. I need some help here. I’ve got the majority of this off but after 3 chemical applying, this stain isnt coming off.

What chem

1% SH. With Elemenator. Working great on majority of deck but on the edges it’s not wanting to come off.

Needs more pressure, or get closer. Start on the edge and whip the wand upwards to not mark it where you finish.

Hard to tell with the photo but they had a guy last year come and pressure wash. Well he didnt use any chemicals and just tried pressure. he furred the snot out of the wood. So when I get to the distance that I should be, it really starts to fur the wood even worse. Makes me nervous to get near it. Would increasing my SH to a 2% or 3% be a good route to try?

That’s what I would do just like on stucco that 1% we always use doesn’t do the trick. Try bumping it up to let’s say 3%. Use a brush and give it a scrub that might help

I’ll give that a shot and see if it helps any. Thank you.

I’m not talking about grenading it with 3000psi, with any wood you need pressure around 1000psi to remove the crap, that green looks like it’s just sitting there. Your either paranoid about furring it and using a softwash approach or you haven’t got enough pressure. Sometimes technique is the answer not chemical strength.

Looks great. Buy a 40° nozzle with a orifice that gives you around 1000psi. Doing that will solve the worry of leaving the wood marked up for the most part.

I tired using the search bar but it doesn’t seem to be working and since this post is full of wood cleaning gods I thought it would be an appropriate question for here. I have a deck to do next week. Plan on pre wet, DS house mix with a little extra sh added and then post treat with ox. My question is this particular deck has a rather large aluminum wheel chair ramp attached. Would you cover that to prevent having to clean the whole ramp ? I don’t want to have a section at the top cleaner than the rest of the ramp or run marks from chemicals on the ramp.

I wouldn’t worry too much about a little bit of chem getting on the aluminum. It should not affect it at all. Just make sure once you apply your cleaner to immediately rinse down whatever you don’t want chem on like you would normally do.
