Mask up! That’s alot of tolene to take home in your lungs

Is the Graco 390 able to be used with a 5 gallon bucket of stain? It looks like you can only use it with one gallon cans. So I’m having trouble picturing the set-up.

Man, you do a great job of getting some serious money for your stain jobs! :muscle::clap:

Yes works great with 5 gallon buckets. If you look at a photo of one the hose is angled up. It is a bit taller than a 5er. It swivels on the machine so just put your bucket beside it and your good to go. I can get a photo this evening…if I remember

They’re shot…

Actually I was killing myself when my pricing was lower, so I raised my prices, pay my helper $15.00 and performance bonuses. Decent help in DFW is all but impossible to find, our unemployment rate has “skyrocketed” to 3.3%. Fast food pays 10+ an hour, article in the Sunday paper showed local restaurants closed with a sign on the door saying they were closed due to lack of employees.

@MDA1775 They have to be talking about restaurants in McKinney, The Colony, Frisco. Very few can afford the tolls there and it’s in the middle of nowheresvillve where the lower class can’t afford to live. They built a bubble with all these satellite cities to keep the rift raft out and they can’t get anyone to work at the places they don’t want to. I saw this 2 years ago at more than a few restaurants over there. Send me the link would you.

In this case it was over by Texas Motor Speedway. It was in the actual Sunday paper i.e. the Star-Telegram. Yeah, I still get the newspaper delivered a couple times a week…

Which airless sprayer are you using? I’ve seen guys on Facebook using 12v pumps. You prefer the airless sprayer?

I’m just using a Graco ProX17. There are definitely better sprayers out there but it works great. I haven’t really used any other so not the best one to give advice on it. I think using an airless versus 12v really depends on the type of stain or sealer you’re using. I’ve mainly been using Super Deck because it’s readily available to me and I don’t really have much else locally. It’s nothing like oil based Wood Defender or Stain and Seal. The Super Deck is kind of like a paint/stain so I believe the atomization from an airless sprayer keeps you from having to back brush as much. It makes it go on smoother. If you’re using Wood Defender or Stain and Seal a 12 volt might be the way to go. @MDA1775 would be able to give better advice than what I can.

I almost gave up on staining when I was doing it by hand until I went with an airless. I just haven’t even considered a 12 volt because the airless has worked so well. I might experiment more next year. Mark has me talked into using Wood Defender or Stain and Seal next year. He’s been feeding me knowledge all season and I’ve learned a ton. I still have a lot to learn though.

What are you paying a gallon for the super? @marinegrunt

I think I paid about $36 a gallon when I purchased a couple fivers a few weeks back. Someone on here said I can use his account and I think he gets it for $29 and some change.

Ok, 36 is about as good as I can do on that product without DM approval , regular contractor pricing is 42so they must have you on big box price matching.

It might’ve been $38 a gallon. I’d have to look at my receipts to get an exact number. Thanks for asking though!

@Greenman, @marinegrunt and everybody else Super Deck is about $54.xx a gal. They run it on special 3-4 times a year for 40% off to the general public. You should have no problem getting it at that price every day which is about $32.00.
On the 12v verses airless. I can’t imagine spraying Super Deck or similar with a 12 v. It would make a mess, if it had the suction to prime it since it is so thick. They don’t atomize it enough. My spray rig has a pressure gauge on it and to get SD to spray properly I am spraying at between 1850 and 2200 psi with a 13-19 tip.
BTW, the 8’ x 500 ft fence took longer than expected because I did not like the way the first 120 feet (sitting on the 4 ft rock wall) looked when I was done with the entire fence. So after having done everything but roll up the hose I broke it all back out and resprayed it so it took closer to 4hrs. That worked out though because I had never met the homeowner, he pulled up and I sold him on a house wash, flat work and cleaning that stupid rock wall…

No worries! I figure I’m bugging everyone here learning about power washing, the least I can do is jump in on sherwin Williams product issues.

I may or may not actually work for sherwin as my day job… pricing can be weird depending on what area your in and how much competition we… er I mean they have in the area. List on super deck is almost 58, and depending on what level “contractor” account they open for you has a HUGE impact on pricing. Best thing to do is bring in a receipt for a comparable product from pretty much anywhere else and ask your rep or store manager if they cant do better because you would prefer to buy from sherwin. They can go in and update your price record card for specific products you use often and get the price as low as possible.

Thanks, I know all my local folks and think my pricing is good. People need to negotiate to ensure they get the best pricing they can.
