So here’s the situation. My house wash sprayed into the house via a gap between the top plate and rafter block on the outside of the house. The inside of the house is exsposed ceiling so the house wash bleached out a bed spread and couch.
Whose at fault ?
No HS came in through the windows. I have my option who is going to pay. What’s yours ?
No contract reply. Mess wasn’t there before you got there. Pay for it and move on. You’ll het mote grief and lose more money by not paying for it. Anything under $1k i don’t wven argue with the customer. Pay and be done with it. A happy customer will tell one person. An unhappy customer will tell 17. Fact.
Lesson learned. Definitely add it to your contract. I think I’d be with @Steve on this one, but mostly to see if they’d accept partial responsibility. If they take the half and run it’s probably fair to suppose they knew it was some sort of a problem whether they get weather or whistling or bugs or whatever through that gap.
If they still raise a stink, I’d probably pay for the whole shazam if for no other reason than reputation management, but I’d add it to my list of questions to ask for the estimate and make sure it was in my contract.
Something like: Not held responsible water ingress for failed caulking, weatherproofing, gaps blah blah blah
Hey did you build your contracts from scratch or did you get your hands on something to start with? Any tips on where to find template. I know I need to make a contract just have no idea/time how to build one from scratch.
Nice, might to try and knock one out this Sunday. Will be another nice professional touch. Quick question, what do you do if you never meet the customer in person? I have been doing lots of work for rental people and the owners live up north. Is there a program you use for electric signatures? Or ask them to print and scan? I feel like people are too lazy to do all the printing and scanning
Contracts usually say the customer’s home must be free of defects or something to that manner. This in my opinion is a huge defect and I feel comfortable explaining to my customer that in no way am I responsible for a crack in their siding. I don’t need a contract for this one. I do believe they are needed but this guy had to of known there was an “opening” to the exterior of his house.
