All good my friend. Its been a tough month for me with this hurricane ian knocked on my front door. Im sure im being difficult but ive always prided myself self on calling it as i see it. Im definitely Not always right! Bygones and what not

It’s okay I didn’t wash today either. I was on the way back from the duck camp when my brakes started sounding like the pads were completely gone. Sure enough they were toast so I had to reschedule today and pop in some new pads + rotors. One of these days I’ll have a truck that isn’t 2 decades old but I can’t seem to get away from them lol

Take some time and pull those calipers off and clean them up real good and be sure to grease slide pins and contact points if you didn’t. Sometimes those calipers get sticky as they age and it’s absolutely zero fun when you have a caliper get stuck. If your rotors are still in decent shape you can get them turned for cheap. Flush your brake fluid every year to two years tops. The fluid attracts moisture and it lowers the boiling point of the fluid over time and boiling brake fluid = brake no worky.

I revived this truck from the grave and change all the fluids in it after the transmission in my old truck grenaded itself. Hopefully my current truck doesn’t last long enough for me to flush the break juice (breakoraide?) again. Calipers were cleaned and fittings were greased but very good advice and thank you.

Good news is I never have to change the oil because it keeps leaking out of the rear main seal. Bad news is it has the 6.0L vortec gas engine which is one of the best engines GM ever made and I’m having a hard time saying my goodbyes.

Good deal! These older trucks can have a way of nickel and diming you to death but they’re still cheaper than a new one by a long shot.

Those 6.0’s are hard to kill but rear main seals are no fun to tackle without a lift. If you have access to a lift it would probably only take you a day to knock it out.

And just like that, the ole timer comes back into play lol. @Wakewash you can use my lift when you need it

I’ve been considering doing it for a long time but I also noticed the rear diff leaking when I was changing the brakes out. And the power steering and sometimes the coolant :joy::joy: That truck needs heart surgery. I might just rip it all apart this winter when I have some time

Man, tell me about it. My truck is in excellent condition but I’ve still had to fix stuff. This year I’ve done new transfer case with four new u-joints, completely new power steering system with a new hydroboost, and a mess of new stuff like exhaust, lift pump, etc. I’ve got every part to completely rebuild the front end just sitting in the garage until I can get to it. Got maybe another two weeks of good washing and then I’ll probably shut it down for the year and tear this thing apart.

Still beats a $1200 truck payment lol

As long as you’ve got the tools which it seems likely you definitely do it beats a payment every time. Plus I learn something new every time I start takin bolts off :joy:
