During my last job, I noticed that my surface cleaner started to wobble while using it. I looked into it and saw it may be because one of my nozzle tips was clogged. Upon further inspection, I noticed corrosion completely covered one of the tips.
Of course, I also found that there was some corrosion within the surface cleaner bar itself. I’m guessing I may not have flushed out my pressure washer well enough and some SH might’ve gotten into the bar between jobs. Is there an effective wash to treat this and remove it before it gets worse? Thinking I should just replace the nozzles as well while I’m at it.
Cleaning tips is necessary, having extra doesn’t hurt either. Make sure you put them in correctly or you will get striping. I use teflon tape so they seal better and are easier to remove. Are you running SH through your surface cleaner? Never heard of that, believe most people clean, then rinse the concrete, last put down undiluted or at least high concentration of SH. Changing the bearing if needed needs to be done occasionally, found them on AMZN, not a hard job.
Steel and stainless steel can corrode if they touch and are exposed to moisture… I don’t know what surface cleaner you have (looks like a BE) but the bar is steel and the tips were probably stainless steel. I doubt it was caused by bleach… even if you had bleach in your line, using the surface cleaner to clean a driveway would have pushed enough water and diluted anything that could be in there. When you’re done for the day, once the surface cleaner is disconnected from the hose, hold down the trigger and lift it up… some water will drip out of the nozzles, but if you lift it into the air a lot more will flow out the hose end by the gun.
Are you using your DI to push SH through your SC? If you are you need to flush it thoroughly after every single use. Second, don’t do that. Use your gun or another item to apply your cleaning chemicals, then use the SC. maybe I am not the norm, but I never put SH through my SC. When I started the members told me not to, so I am parroting that to you.
Thanks fellas. To clarify, I never intentionally put SH through my SC. I had just thought maybe some got in there if there was some left in my pressure hose from between jobs. I’m thinking it may be due to significant water being left in the bar after work is done. I’ll be sure to get rid of as much water as I can after disconnecting the hose. Will go ahead and replace the tips now too.
I do have a BE here. Do y’all know of anyone who sells aluminum replacement bars for them? I only see ones which I would guess are still steel.
