Convert a trash pump to pressure washer

Is it possible to put a pressure washer pump on a trash pump (Honda GX390) ?
From the size of the motor it looks possible to get a 4000/4gpm unit
Also why type of pump would be best belt, direct or gear
Thanks

I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t do that.

Gear drive will be the easiest conversion. Just bolts right on.

I’d go for a 5gpm or 5.5gpm Udor if you can swing it. You’ll want a buffer tank, though.

Some people also have recommended the the Alison brand gear driven pumps from envirospec. They’re very reasonably priced from what I recall.

Absolutely possible.

Thanks for the response guys.I am looking on how to install and what cost v/s buying a 4/4 belt drive.Trash pump is at auction, new.

A decent belt drive 4@4k is probably going to run you ~$1500 with shipping.

A gear drive pump might be anywhere’s from 500-900. And then you’ll need an unloader, unloader block, whip, etc. + whatever you need that would’ve come included with a pre-built machine.

@Patriotspwashing, are you the one running gear drive Alison pumps?

Yes, Allison gear drives 5.6gpm we’re running $400 with the gear box attatched.

As long as the shaft on the 399 isn’t tapered or have a built in gear reduction then it should be fine

Greg, just go buy a Predator 420 and a 5.6gpm gear drive Allison and you’ll be in an out for around $800

Or just get one of those spiffy water sucker attachments for your wand. Mine works very well and hardly takes up any space.

Edit: Maybe we’re mot talking about a trash pump, my apologies.
