Most pumps have issues from being misused.
My advice: always start and stop on the trigger. The bypass can stick causing pressure damage.
Never let it run out of gas = unexpected stop.
Never let it run off the trigger for more than 5 minutes. The bypass hose acts like a radiator to cool it. There’s only about 2 gallons in that system when recirculating, it’s heats up fast.
These things have reduced our customers issue’s dramatically. We see the occasional issues with elbows and fittings but most of the time it’s someone tripped and dropped something on the pump and broke a fitting etc.
I have 2 units with 2+ years running on 2 trucks. And another with 1+ years.

I was thinking to switch to one instead of the 12v for more flow and distance? Is there a reason you don’t use yours
