Hello out there, Im Jason nice to meet you all,
First post for me, Ive been reading many of the post its always great info. Question I have is Im looking at purchasing a new pressure washer wondering if I should go with 4-6gpm@5000 psi cold water or 6-8gpm 3000 psi Hot water. Basically is there anything that the 5000psi cold can do that the 3000psi hot cant do?
3000 psi 8 GPM hot water machine will do everything that you are wanting to do. Go with the 3500 psi if you are doing commercial so you can run longer lengths of hose and keep the pressure at a reasonable rate. 5000 psi is aggressive and from what I have read over the years really uncalled for when it comes to residential work.
Yea, create a hell of a lot more damage, and for no reason at all. Unless you’re stripping paint from ship hulls there is absolutely no reason to have 5000 psi…I’ll take gpm over psi each and every time.

Looking to expand into parking lots maybe some fleet washing. Thats why Im looking into either bigger PSI cold water or a hot water machine. After doing a bunch of reading the last couple of days Ive decided to go with the hot water unit. Seems like a hot water unit can do everything and more then any cold water machine.
Don’t sell yourself short and only buy a cold water rig because before you know it you’ll get calls for storefront cleaning where gum removal needs hot water and also dealing with oil spots in parking garages a good degreaser along with hot water speeds up the job tremendously just to name a few applications where hot water is needed.
