You might have more luck asking the window cleaning specific forum: https://community.windowcleaner.com/
I understand how my question wasn’t clear. I have to clean the mildew on the wood shutters and the vinyl trim around the glass of the windows while not getting soap (SH w/ mildew killer and water/Surf.) on the wood surrounding the window.
My suggestion would be pass on this job, postpone a few months for the paint to set, or charge accordingly and let the homeowner know there will be drips/overspray that will get on the trim. I don’t know how they expect you to clean literally everything that surrounds the freshly painted wood trim without getting some soap/sh on the trim as well.
I’d tell them no. That’s going to be a big hassle and they just don’t know. HW mix isn’t going to hurt paint (unless it has organics in it like some SW paint) I’ve washed a house the same day a customer had all the trim repainted, no issues at all.
Tell them it can’t be done and doesn’t matter because it won’t hurt anything. If they still say no, move on. Just do a small test spot and show them
I appreciate the feedback!
Tell them that it’s not possible to correctly clean them without cleaning solution. Also explain that you use a low-pressure method that is perfectly safe for the paint once it has dried.
Homeowners pretend like they know what they are talking about, when in reality they have no idea. I’ve never seen dried paint, even a day after painting, be impacted low pressure. It’s just not a thing.
Thanks! I appreciate it!
