Cleaning Travertine

Bingo, under an oak tree.

Need a way stronger pre treat. At minimum down stream 10% straight or use a roof pump to apply stronger mix.

Haha it was a nightmare. Thankfully it was only 1300ish sqft.

I didn’t want to kill anything besides the algae, I had already mixed it, and she had nice grass.

That is not what a healthy turf looks like

Its pretty hot down here in south texas, thats pretty healthy believe me.

Y’all nocturnal Texans are wearing me out. Dropping the mic ,night fellas.

Ummm hummm so my wife loves well manicured lawns. I tell her baby I’m going to knock your socks off. We had St. Augustine at the time but it was sparse. I took it down to bare soil with the line trimmer. Layed 4 plus inches of topsoil down and sodded it back with St. Augustine. I watered it for 4 hours every 3 days at 3am. I even went as far as cutting it with a reel type mower like little baby scissors cutting every blade of grass. It was flat as you could believe as I was rolling and aerating it over the 2 years I worked on it. The green and thickness was ridiculous. Neighbors would stop and stare and comment as they walked by. The roots were 20" down. That Lady’s grass ummm nooo and I live in North Texas lol it was one hot summer that year and it was the only turf that survived on my street

Peace

That there grass of hers is under an oak umbrella, in the shade, lucky theres even grass there. Watering at night is a no no as you will get fungus and shrooms. At least here.

Yes I’m aware of problems with fungus from watering in the evenings which is why I watered in the early am

A strong pre treatment won’t kill anything If you soak the grass before doing it. The grass will get a good amount of water while cleaning it as well so you have nothing to worry about. You’d need to apply a stronger mix than any DS will give you. Put down 3-4% then surface clean it.

I agree with @anon37135677 . Trying to kill algae that thick on concrete would be like trying to down stream an algae covered roof. It’s just not going to touch it. I will sometimes down stream cleaner looking concrete while I’m doing a house wash if I’m going to be cleaning it but I normally pull out the 12v. For small areas I’ll just use a pump up.

instead of starting a new “clean travertine thread”: I have a client with a travertine driveway and he wants it PW monthly! l will be replacing the guy in the picture. There have always been light tire marks. The former cleaner used Simple Green and an orange degreaser. There is a great deal of landscaping up to the edge of the travertine. It is chisel edged travertine that was sealed about a year ago. I am seeking your wisdom as I do not want to replace $$$$$ of travertine.

Not sure I’d want to work with anyone stupid enough to put down travertine on a drive but if you’re cleaning it monthly, just ds some EBC on it, that’ll get rid of tire marks when you surface clean it.

thank you @Racer I said the same thing to him, super nice guy that worked smart and hard for what he has but I have no response for this life choice! lol
As a window cleaner trying to increase PW revenue I’ve been busy trying to learn this business, I dare not call it an add-on. There is SO much to learn and I want to get it right.

If you’re going to be cleaning it that often, get your surface cleaner pressure down to about 2000 psi. Do you know what they sealed it with?

no sir. He said it’s been cleaned at least 6 times since. I know the GC and will find out who he used.

Just see if you can find out the product they used
