I am trying to clean stains on white vinyl siding under overhang areas that never see rain. The house is on a dirt road and the stains are brown. I have used detergent, bleach, soft scrub, scrubbing bubbles, and the brown persists. Scrubbed with brushes, even scotch brite pad with little to no noticeable difference. What will work to get this off? TIA Jack
Got any pictures?
If it’s not organic SH isn’t going to do anything… possibly fallout, read up on it and see if that’s what it looks like, probably need a degreaser and a soft bristle brush to clean it
I suggest ypu type fallout in the search function and read the threads there.
save you the time searching, acid…
Try OneRestore, that’s my go to for odd stuff or environmental staining.
Aluminum brightener is what I use. (Thanks again Racer) Works great on all inorganic stains and makes rust disappear instantly on siding. The one I use is phosphoric acid, same stuff in soft drinks. Works great and very safe to use.
Contractors call that fallout. As mentioned by others, acid should remove it. As I mentioned earlier, I still recommend new washers read the fallout threads.
Will do, thanks!
Well did some reading-up on fallout as suggested. Purchased a small bottle of ZEP Calcium, Lime, and Rust. Diluted it 1 to 1, sprayed it on, let it set for a couple minuted, then scrubbed with a stiff bristle bush, and nothing, did not change the appearance at all. Some what product would folks suggest next?
Thanks
Jack
So I did some further reading and it seems the next attempt should be either a degreaser or acid. I would really appreciate any suggestions and recommendation for products that work best.
Thanks
