Cleaning Chemicals( NEWB)

Hello,
I am 100% new to pressure washing. I am not doing it for a business, but for personal and side gigs, as needed. I am buying a Simpson 390GX 4200 psi 4.0 GPM (CAT) Pressure washer. I will not be using it year round as I live in Montana and we have snow 8 months out of the year. My main use is to clean after snow seasons. They spray this chemical on the roads that splash on to sidewalks and cars, and buildings, that I like to clean off.I have used pressure washers before and get the basics.

I would like to know of any guides or resources to read up on to learn more advanced cleaning methods using pretreat and sealant chemicals. I need to get chemicals to break through the grease, sludge and grime not only foot traffic on concrete sidewalks leave and vehicles, but those de icing chemicals. I am using a cold water pressure washer and not running hot water. I would prefer a method to educt(eductor) the chemicals from a bucket (PAST) the pump and into the line or wand. I know ill need a extended telescopic wand for these buildings.

The buildings can vary from Concrete, to masonry, to vinyl siding to wood. Ill need chemicals to mainly clean concrete and masonry, mind you this brick is VERY OLD, meaning ill be keeping a distance from the brick as to not blow a hole in the building.

Any recommendations for chemicals, parts, accessories would be most appreciated.
Here is my list of equipment I will be getting

Simpson GX390 Honda, 4200/4.0 (CAT)
2 50’ 5000 psi hoses(2 50s id prefer over 100’ single)
3/4" dia Industrial 50ft supply hose(not that 5/8’ BS)
Surface Cleaner (12-15")
Gutter cleaner attachment
Rotating Turbo Nozzle
Telescopic wand 12-24’ (2nd story cleaning)
Id like to know what other equipment to get.
Id like a pressure gauge at my wand handle so i can monitor pressure, at the wand, I found a 5000 psi gauge , but do not know how it would attach.

MTM Hydro 1/4" Stainless Steel Pressure Gauge 5,000 PSI
(MTM Hydro 22.5006 1/4" Stainless Steel Pressure Gauge 5,000 PSI)

When it comes to inline Eductors/Injectors, can I chain 2 of them, if I want to run 2 chemicals at once? Say a cleaner and a Degreaser?
something like this (BE Pressure 85.400.003 High Pressure Up Stream Soap Injector)

I am also looking for something like a waterbroom, something with 2 or 3 spray heads for rinsing building sidings fast, do you have any recommendations, I would like to find a Y splitter with 2 40" heads, something to really fan out the water to cover more area.

When it comes to chemicals, I really need environmental friendly stuff if possible, as everything will run into storm drains.
I also need chemicals for biohazard. One area ill be cleaning is a soup kitchen sidewalk, the homeless like to defecate, urinate and bleed all over the sidewalks for retaliation. Some even throw food, I need chemicals to break down, kill and clean the spills. I will always pre treat with a bleach bucket solution and scrub brush, however, I would like a chemical I can spray with wand to penetrate and remove such.

Any recommendations are appreciated, Thank You

De-oil-it comes to mind. Check them out.

Hey Chris, welcome to the PWRA, all your questions have been answered and more.

Just scroll to the bottom of this page and click the topics, read every single one, there’s tons of good literature on here on tools, chemicals, methods and systems.

The chemical injector is also called a downstream injector.

You shouldn’t need a telescoping wand, most pros here don’t use that, you just need a specific tip for your gun.

SH (sodium hypoclorite) is the chlorine/bleach chemical you need to disinfect, you can DS this .(downstream)

Purple power from Wal-Mart sound be plenty good to cleanup oil, you can get a pump sprayer and apply that straight, then scrub with a brush.

But everything I said and more can be found in this forum, read for a few weeks before you make any purchases, please.

You can also click the PWRA logo and go to the home page and read those posts, or in the top right click the three bar graphic and pick a specific category

Good luck

@CaCO3Girl is our resident chemist, and may be able to point you in the right direction regarding the soils and staining you’re attempting to remove. She might also be able to advise whether or not those chemicals would be safe to go down storm drains.

From my limited knowledge of the subject and some quick googling, I would be skeptical of SH (bleach) being effective at removing liquid deicer stains. You’d be essentially treating one type of salt (magnesium or calcium chloride) with a different type of salt (sodium hypochlorite). Just not sure how that’ll work out :face_with_monocle:

This is a drive by post, I’ll reply more in depth later. I’m road tripping to FL today. Who the heck schedules a baseball tourney Thursday-Monday??? Gesh!

More chemical knowledge to come!

One of the things on this forum that excites me :sunglasses:

There are many things used to get rid of ice. Do you know what they are using? Calcium chloride, regular salt (sodium Chloride), liquid, pellet…it all matters

I’m confused by your statement that you want two different chemicals a cleaner and a degreaser. I’ve been formulating for 20 years and it is called a cleaner/degreaser, it is ONE chemical. Why do you think you need two?

What exactly are you trying to clean?
