Customer just bought a new house and wants their chimney cleaned. Is this soot on the chimney or just heavy organics that a hot mix of SH will clean up nicely? How would you guys tackle this
It’s usually just organics. I usually go with a stronger mix and some pressure. Gotta be careful with the pressure depending on how old the chimney is and how the mortar is holding up.

This one cleaned up nice for me with just a 2% mix. Hit it a couple times then rinsed with my 600psi rinse nozzle. I don’t have pics, but I did one just like this earlier this year that was in a harder to reach spot just like this one. Same thing, 2% mix but I hit it 3-4 times then light rinse. I couldn’t get close to hit it with much pressure, that’s why I hit it a few times. I was washing the whole house, so I would just hit it, then move on to something else for a while.
