Cheap tank vent

Just a cheap tank vent idea for open trailers or truck builds since some people need a vent that doesn’t let any outside stuff in but still very breathable. Made this tank vent out of about $3 worth of pvc, old window screening, super glue, and pvc cement. It’s a solid piece. You can also make it any size you want.

The guts is a PVC piece with 4 notches cut into the top. You then add some drops of super glue between the posts and wrap any old window screening around it. Keeps small critters and stuff out. This is fiberglass screen that I used.

Then just put one drop of glue on the top of the posts and put your cap down onto it. Let dry for about 5 minutes. Then contact cement the end piece so you have threads and all done ! You can make the rod length any length you want.

You can screw the vent into a bulkhead fitting

Or you can drill a hole into the tank and use another pvc piece to screw into the other side like a bulkhead fitting.

Just an idea.

I won’t be using this since my tanks already have pretty good vents in the lids but if you need more airflow then this design is sturdy and VERY breathable.

LOL, you need to quit playing and get that rig and house finished. I’ve never even remotely thought I or anyone else needed something like that.

House is pretty much done, trailer would be too but waiting on fittings to ship in and miscellaneous things . Plus life gets busy! lol. Main part will get done before new year.

Next year before the season starts I’m going to get duel brakes put on and a coupler. Probably bulldog. Going to have the spare tire relocated, and have a fitting welded on each side of the side of the trailer so I can put the jack into it and use for tire changes. Eventually wider rims too and wider/heavier ply tires. Not a fan of the skinny tires

Single or dual axle trailer? If dual i just use the Anderson Rapid Jack

This is why i love this forum. So many gems. Never knew there was a product like this! But the catch, only works if one tire is down, what if both are down? Always have to think about the what if’s.

Well I don’t know. Have only had to use it twice in 4 years, once with a camper and once with my enclosed washing trailer.

I would think both on one side at the same time is pretty rare. But to each his own.

You be careful now son, grumpy pants has a patent pending on that idea lol.

Just Jack up one at a time…

Nothing wrong with skinny tyres either, if they are rated then all good, less drag and less float

If he was that worried about people incorporating his idea he wouldn’t have shared it with hundreds of people on the internet lol
