Cheap surface cleaner same as expensive one?

My Hotsy A+ 24" surface cleaner is over 2 years old now. I bought it for $2000 at the local pressure washer supply shop when I was new (ripoff I know) and now grease is slipping past the rotor shaft bearing. Was gonna replace the swivel assembly when I saw what appears to be the same cleaner under a different brand name for $289. I’m temoted to buy it because it’s so cheap and looks the same. A whisper wash would run $1200 or so. Anyone have experience with offbrands? I bet they’re made in the same chinese factory as large brands.

Might be worth a shot… if it works out you could replace it 3 times over and still come out ahead… if the first one sucks then you’re only out $300… plus it’s the jungle site so you could probably still return it if all else fails.

On a separate note, I’ve heard that greasing as a maintenance upkeep is usually when things start to go downhill so it’s best not to do that.

you put too much grease in it. only put a little, same for wheel bearings unless packing by hand. too much grease either mishapens the orings or pushes them out. When mishapen, while spinning it wears out a portion of any seals and then leaks. Not every time, but thats what you can expect when it does.

I have the same surface cleaner as you only in a 21". Yes, the “A+” brand is just a generic name and the same SC is sold under probably fifty different names. Get a new swivel. Buy two while you’re at it.

You got taken for a ride. I paid $500 for mine.

Get a Whisper Wash, you won’t regret it.

Whisper wash is really nice but I spent like $400-500 for a 20” GP hammerhead 4 years ago and it even got ran over by a car and hasn’t given me a single issue.

I’ve got the 18" hammerhead and even though i don’t do a lot of flat work, it’s on its 4th year with no issues. I really like it
