Changing 12v Housing - repair

I had a 12v from PT housing cracked a few months ago so I ordered a new one. I also ordered the housing from PT to repair this one. It’s been laying around in my garage and the whole time I’m thinking I have a back up. All I have to do is pop on the new housing. I can’t get the housing to seal. Is there some trick to closing this gap? Searched the forum and YouTube and can’t find anything. PressureTek sells them so I’m sure someone’s repairing vs buying a new one. I’m going to buy another backup tonight but I’d still like to get this one going. Any suggestions?

I take my northern tool pump apart to clean it sometimes and the inside of your pump looks almost identical to the pump that I use. On your top picture the rubber piece on my pump does not sit flat neither. If you powered the pump, you will see that it spins in a oblong pattern, sort of like a spinning coin right before it stops. That’s how it makes the suction.

Thanks @gbattle. The shaft spins freely without power. I can’t figure out why it will not close completely. The housing will not seal. Once the new one gets here I might take the one that’s in use apart to compare. It has to be something simple I’m over looking if you take yours a part without issues. Im pretty sure these pumps are similar by design. No clue but I just ordered two everflo 12v and a 1gpm to force feed.

Which one are you using? @gbattle

I’ve been really happy with the Delevans, but always open to try something new.

I use a NorthStar 4gpm 60psi pump for light applications, no roofs. I’m not saying they’re the best. I use them mainly for convenience. There’s a Northern Tool a few blocks from my house.

Thank you for the info!
