Cedar Siding price per sq ft

I’ve learned a lot from this community just reading over the years now it’s time for the first post!

Recently relocated from all vinyl region to an area with primary cedar siding. Using sodium hydroxide then finishing with oxalic acid to freshen it up, loving the results.

Only issue is I do not know what to charge, I am 100% on quotes ( which we know isn’t a good thing to start) went from .25c a square foot to .35c and they’re still being accepted and I feel like I’m losing money possibly. What is the going rate from painting or other wash companies. .50c ? .75c sq ft???

Any help is greatly appreciated

I’m no expert, but wood restoration is normally in the dollars, not cents, per sq ft. But you don’t mention if your staining or sealing it.

If your just stripping cedar and that is it, your costs would be lower. I don’t know what they do with untreated cedar when you are done. I guess let it go grey again. I don’t do cedar, hardly any in my area. It is PT pine all day everyday. Once in awhile a wood exterior home.

The bottom line is this, your market determines your prices. If you make what you want an hour, after paying off your bills, then you are golden. Doesn’t matter what pete in Tuscon makes, or bill in Idaho. Now if you want to make more an hour, then raise your prices and see if the estimates keep getting accepted, if not adjust accordingly.

There should be no “possibly”…you should know 100%, or not be sending quotes out.
