CAT DX66 No Water Flow

Asking for a friend (no this is not a Viagra commercial) who has a NT 4/4K PW with a CAT DX66 Pump. He’s stationed in SC so I can’t go look at and I know nothing about CAT anything. This has been the flame prevention lead in:
He has connected his hose and get’s no water on the output side, engine running or not. The in hose filter is clear, the machine has never been exposed to freezing temperatures and has low hours on it. He’s not particularly mechanically inclined but one of the finest Marines I ever served with, so I am asking for suggestions. I have used the search and Googled it but I honestly don’t know enough about pumps to suggest much. Thanks

Is it a nee machine or new setup? Might need to prime the pump. I had the same issue after plumbing my new set-up

Check to see if the shaft key is sheared, but water should still flow in and out even is pump isn’t working.

That’s what I have always thought and how my GP pumps work.

Check for dirt dobbers and such in the inlet side, been there…

No offense intended in any way. 30 years working with folks in IT and restaurant equipment related issues I often would find the easy answer to the easy problem. Sometimes folks will jump to the hardest solution without trying the easy ones first. Can’t tell you have many invoices I have paid because workers called electrician to flip a breaker.

  1. Is the hose on? Did he verify water comes out the hose? If so, with water on, fold hose over, attach to machine and then let loose of the hose. Does water flow out now?
