Cat 310 question

Hi all…and thanks for any input. I recently bought an older landa pressure washer with a cat 310 pump. A couple of questions. When I connect water I am not getting any flow to the discharge side ( just connected and haven’t even started the motor yet) should I see some pass through. I have only used basic machines in past and not sure if I should get some… Also it says oil should be to the red dot…but I can’t seem to see it in the window. Am I missing something?

You can’t see oil in the window or you just don’t see a red dot? Just make sure the oil is halfway up the sight glass and you’ll be fine. That’s likely where the red dot was anyways.

Once you know your oil level is where it should be start it up and see how it works. You should get flow if the pump is working right. Were you able to test it before purchasing?

I only paid 40 bucks so I figure it was worth a shot…

If it’s a belt drive you won’t get any discharge at your gun until you crank it. I just made the move to a belt drive and with my direct drive I had water at the gun as soon as I turned the water on. Not so with the belt drive.

You’ll get water at the gun, just no pressure. We hang the hoses on hooks over the tank line when trucks are parked at night or else the floor gets flooded

Ah, well you just taught me something else. I wasn’t getting anything at the gun.

It depends on how much water is in your tank. Head pressure forces it out eventually.

I had about 45 gallons when I started. By the time I fooled around and then messaged you and Brodie, it had probably been about an hour and I still wasn’t getting anything at my gun. I just chalked it up to the belt drive as to why. When I first filled my tank, I didn’t get anything past the filter. I pulled the caps off the plugs and turned the motor over a few times just to get water past the filter and to the pump. It’s definitely not free flowing

I’m thinking you guys might have a different setup than myself…I’m hooked up to by garden hose…no tank…should I see something at the gun before I start the motor, I just don’t want to burn the pump up

If you are feeding it from a hose and you are not seeing water at the pump, you have serious issues
