Can't Find Worker's Comp Insurance

Good afternoon,

Newbie, out running hard! I spent the last week or so out prospecting property managers, storefronts, and realtors. I’ve had some good success getting requests for estimates and have closed a few already. However, I have run into a few property managers that require WC insurance. Since I am currently a one-man-band, I know that I’m not required to have it by law but would still like to work with some of these property managers because they say that they can’t find anyone else with WC so I would have a leg up if I could find it. I called my GL insurer, Joseph Walters, and they don’t provide any for SC. I have contacted 7 or 8 other companies and tried a few online “brokers” and no one wants to cover me in SC… haven’t even been able to get a quote. Am I missing something? (P.S. those of you who are going to ask why I’m posting this in the middle of the day instead of prospecting… I’m not. I’m waiting on a customer to get home to do an estimate and I type fast. lol)

Any insights on this is greatly appreciated.

I know @Patriotspwashing uses Online Payroll for Small Business | Patriot Software for his payroll and once you signup with them you can apply for workers comp through them (verified). $30 a month and $4 per employee. They handle your taxes and everything but it does NOT include worker’s compensation in that amount. Might be worth looking into with the issues you’re running into. Hope it helps.

Those freaking commercials are enough to drive a man insane.

Just to clarify, so people don’t get confused. The $30 doesn’t include workmen’s comp.

Thanks, I’ll check them out. Appreciate the help and I’ll post back here an end result.

SC state accident fund is who I used. SC was one of the States my workers comp wouldn’t cover from NC

How many states do u work in? Not that is has much to do with anything being discussed in this thread, but kinda does?

Two. SC & GA

GA, SC, FL, Tenn, NC, Alabama, VA, OH. I’ve scaled back a lot, but still sub out a lot out of state

Let me know when your in VA… if reasonable driving distance and available ill come say hello… pancakes w/ butter and ketchup on me.

I know your not from va, but baby and wife will dictate distance.

I lived in Hopewell for four years a long time ago

Hunted out that way for quite some time.

Prince George BBQ is very good.

I grew up smelling Hopewell for about 25 years lol

It was a little stinky

The paper mill’s the culprit. Smelled like sewage when the wind was blowing our way.
