Calculating lattice stain

For the forum, and for my benefit, does anyone have a better way to calculate stain for PT lattice under a deck. I currently take the total sq footage then cut it about 40 percent so I don’t run short. Would love a better idea. always prefer to have too much than too little. doing another estimate for another home owner boogered up deck.

I’ve looked at some deck stain calculators online, so I have something to double check my math, but they are all over the place (some include railings some don’t). None that I saw online include things like posts under deck. I can do the math, I just like something double checking me other than me.

I just measure it like the lattice is deck boards because of the over spray. I should say I use to. I’m done staining decks. I might still do fences tho.

How come you gave up decks?

This year, I am finding that with the cost of PT lumber even the hillbillies are considering stain. Trying wood defender out on the next deck.
